So between Gibbs Clayton and Evans what’s the chances on each? I think if we can get Evans on campus we can get him to the good guys...Dexter was on him hard at the UA game and he seems open at the moment...however if we can get Van Pran in the fold with Clayton it might be worth it with Lingard already with us...Gibbs however is a wild card he seems locked in to GT but honestly I’m not sold if he’s taking such a late trip but then again he’s going to GT after his visit to Gville...Thoughts?

Him not enrolling early at A&M is huge for us with Evans. From what I’ve read this is another case of different influences in his life...some want him close at A&M and some others want him to get away from it all. Kind of sounds similar to Cleveland’s situation minus having family in Florida

Evans is scheduled in G'ville on 1/24 according to Wiltfong, and that is Gibbs' weekend as well. Actually a pretty big weekend overall.

Edit: Blake Alderman mentioned the 31st is a possibility.

I believe it’s the 31st for Evans right now with Gibbs coming 24th. Coaches should be doing an in home with him soon.

Except their total yards for the season (rushing and receiving) was almost identical: 942 for Mason & 938 for Perine. And when going up against ACC competition our feature back did pretty well too. UF played three ACC teams this year including the conference runner up. In those games, LP rushed for 198 yards on 27 carries (7.33 avg.) and had two touchdowns. He also had 14 receptions for 108 yards and another 2 TDs. All three of those opponents played in bowl games. (In the interest of full disclosure, all three of those teams lost their bowls and none of them finished the season ranked.)
My point is simply that against similar competition, the two backs were comparable though Perine was clearly a bigger weapon in the passing game.

Fair enough.
I know every kid is different, but I think any kid who picks GT right now over any of the top ten - twenty programs is making a mistake - though not a career killing mistake! They will never be the top team in their own state and they still have a ways to go to be competitive.

Anyone know who this is?

As JDW said, it's two unranked WDE's from Pensacola. One is visiting Arkansas this weekend, and has a few offers. The other would be a PWO. Seems like a backup plan if we don't get Princely. Still makes no sense, I'd rather keep Britt in the class than take an unranked WDE just because we need a body. I thought we were thin on numbers (scholarships/initial counters).

Haven't we turned our collective noses up at several ranked WDEs already?

I just wish we had good enough coaches to be able to steal our Plan Z's from Cowbell and Gatech when we strike out on everyone else.
Gibbs is a plan a type back. Would love to have him over just about anybody in this class. Also have a real opportunity with Evans.

Edit: and we have a great d line class, a great corner class, if we land Avantae a very good safety class, arguably the best linebacker in high school, an elite tackle class and could sign the best center in high school, a top 50 wr, I could keep going. There isn’t a single reach in this entire class now that Janvier is gone.

I wouldn’t agree entirely with that. I would put Leonard Manuel as a reach. Not talent wise but academic wise. Not sure if he can cut it.

that being said, if he wants a to be a Gator then you make it happen. The risk obviously worth it.

We’ve been snake bits on a lot of these academic risks not panning out.

I don't doubt this--he has no major offers. What puzzles me is why. How slow is he? He just finished third for Alabama Mr. Football. 16 yards per carry is astonishing if he is running against peewees.
Mehhh... I dont know and frankly dont care enough to watch his highlight video, which isnt really a good yardstick anyway. RB isnt particularly important in Mullinz offense anyway.

In general, if the choice is between a guy who didnt put up stats but got bumped by auditions playing flag football at a camp and a guy eho played well but maybe doesnt have measurables, I take the allstate kid w good stats first despite measurable problems.
