It’s not an anomaly. This team is inconsistent. Talented but inconsistent. That Mizzou game wont be the last. The hope is that we find a way to reduce the inconsistency.

Ok...I can appreciate that and enjoy the wins we get while we look good

Great game and lots of fun to watch. How many refused to watch?

White had them locked in defensively. 23 pts 1st half 24 pts 2nd half to a team averaging 81. While many of our misses were open good looks.....many of theirs were bad shots and heavily defended.

Lots of talk that the many bad to’s in the first half were the coaches fault which is wrong. Those were 100% player error adjusting to their pressure. But if they were his fault then White must get the credit for the 1 t/o 2nd half.

Payne needs strength but has excellent feel for the basket inside. He’s adjusting to the fact he is no longer the biggest kid on the court. He’s far more skilled than just a garbage cleanup role. He’ll continue to develop.

So we’ve gone from the NIT to now we’re running the table? Just a setup for future criticism.
All I know is it was a lot of fun. They were locked in and well prepared. Our defense kept us in control throughout.

Extend him!
I'm not ready to say THAT just yet... I've been critical of Coach White, but maybe he's been dealing with player attitudes or gameplan limitations, idk. If he can compete against top 10 teams like this consistently, maybe there's hope for him. Maybe we sneak into the big dance and surprise people?

I missed the game because of work and cranked up YouTube tv just in time for the final seconds. Glad we won, though!

Go Gators!!!

Its gonna take more than one win over a top 5 team for me to think white is the answer

This. All he issues I have with White-Trash I saw in this game. My brother and I were laughing at our offense. I've never seen guys stand around so much. Nemhard or someone would pick up their dribble. Instead of coming to the ball, they called for the ball where they were standing. It took 4-6 seconds for a player to finally come to the ball. This happened again and again. It is as if White-Trash has actually coached them to not have motion in the offense.

@SeabeeGator yeah I see what you're saying about FF. He is doing it again minimalizing a win vs a top 5 team and that is ok to wallow in that for him. Obviously its a huge win vs a top 5 team that has been riding high since last year's Final 4 run. When you hold a top 5 team to 47 points when they average 81 points a game is huge and we have to give credit to White and that players for a great executed game plan. We totally dominated this game, especially in the 2nd half. We were working the ball inside out to perfection. Nemb was able to fight off his flu bug and show some toughness and grit and heart to help lead this team to victory. Payne just played his way into the spotlight and will have NBA scouts taking another look at him. Blackshear and KJ once again steady and played tough as usual. Really impressed yet again with KBJ with 11 points and 16 rebounds. All in all huge Gators victory today in a game most of us thought we were gonna lose. Go Gators!!

Absolutely - I am too. What I’m hoping is that the extreme inconsistency from early in the season is finally smoothing out some. I guess I’m doing the opposite of what FF is - he’s setting up this “everyone sucks, no excuses for losing” argument so he can complain in hindsight - like he always does. I’m setting up the “we’re young and inconsistent so there are still likely some head scratchers mixed in with exciting wins” argument to acknowledge reality (or excuse a bad game - if you’re a pessimist).

That was sarcasm MC... I’m not sure hes the right guy for the program but I do like that he’s bringing in a ton of talent in the event we move on to a new guy.

Notice his “not sure how they score so many points” and “not sure how they don’t have more losses” comments? He’s trying to say they suck and this win isn’t that impressive. Minimizing the defensive effort and Auburn’s impressive start to the season. Is Auburn a top 5 team? Probably not. But they are a very good one and will scare teams come tourney time. Crazy year - lots of parity. Will be interesting to see what the tourney holds. I’m guessing a lot of chaos.

One issue has been freshmen not as college ready as anticipated. Very talented, very athletic....but in need of development and polish.

2nd issue has been very inconsistent shooting from all 3 levels. We all complain about pace, motion and sets but the truth is we have had as many wide open looks from the rack to the 3 pt line as any team out there.....and missed way too many. I’ve repeatedly been surprised at how many open looks we get.

I thought it would take 18-20 games to become more cohesive and comfortable. Next game is #18. But I think it may take the rest of the regular season to unlock Scotty and Mann. They were just not ready for college offensively. But they will get there. We absolutely need them for any run in the tourney.

When you have kids like Mann and Lewis that are used to being THE MAN and now have to play in a more structured set where they contribute in different ways and the new guy in the middle his first year it takes time. Its one thing to have uber talent and skill and another to make it come together as a unit that works together well. Payne certainly made a HUGE difference today. I think he is playing the two bigs more at the same time and it makes a big difference. And let Mann play some point along with Glover. The ceiling for this team is very high. Like M1 said poor shooting has killed us at times. And hurt confidence. If you understand D1 basketball is not how well you play early but how well you play in late Feb and March. I thought Blackshears def. was great today.

We beat the #4 team in the nation by 22 points!

Mike White needs more than one game like this. In our previous 5 losses, White owes us 3 less losses. Perhaps White just stepped back quietly to let our near the basket game unfold. Blackshear has needed a partner 'neath the basket = enter Omy Payne. Payne got 19 points, 11 rebounds; that's a big mark by even any veteran Gator. Locke really helped with timely 3s.

These sleek athletes can do even better. + Locke scored only 11 points. He can give us 16. Johnson scored only 8 points; he can give us 16. Nembhard scored only 6; he can give us 14. By this I mean that we have more luster in us. Just bring it out. No backsliding allowed by White's 'developings'.

Defense set the table so we could feast on our extra-high % FG shooting. We shot 50% FG%..... We shot 62.5% 3s! .... FT 80%.
But TOs = 8 Aub - UF 15. ..... Rebs UF = 44, AUB 29 against a banging team. Gators scored 34 in the paint, Aub 18.

Way way to go, Gators. Now stay calm-confident and thump mighty LSU next to show that this is our real turnaround stretch of the season.

Aub has been killing teams on the board. I think Payne and Blackshear out there together really helped.

Payne was 9 for 9.....think about that for a minute.....
