I would just make a couple of points. The 2019 class was not a top 10 class, and closer to 20 than 10. Mullen took some gambles and lost and then Murphy’s law kick him in the shorts with Jones and Steele. Although, 2020 is much better.I know this has become the go to running joke since Mullen's '18 class. But the argument then from some of us was that it would take some time to right the ship, change the perception and get back in with some of the Florida high schools. That's turned out to be very accurate based on several reports from HS coaches and recruits themselves. In addition, that initial class was ranked 17th. The classes since have been ranked 8th, and currently 7th. Not to mention the blue chip ratio posted above which further supports that.
The other argument from some of us then was that we shouldn't just load up on fillers to help rankings. The fact that we not only have room for a large class this year, but also have been able to take guys like Shuler, Grimes, Jefferson, Greenard, Lingard, and possibly more this year, says that was absolutely the right move at that time.
No one then, or now, is saying we can't improve the recruiting front. But I'm not sure why some are acting as if we're not getting any "good guys" right now, or haven't in the last few classes.
The other is that we are significantly behind the top classes. Huge drop off between us and the leaders. I don’t care if we are 5th or 6th so long as we are within arm’s length. As a matter of fact, my expectations are for slightly lower classes because of the QBs we want and WR we want etc. So if we are close than I’m good. 20+ points back is not close
