Smart phone GCMB problem

I want my smart phone by my bedside when I sleep. I don't want to turn the volume down in case I get an important message. But I don't want to be waked up by less important texts. GCMB is the worst offender waking me and my light sleeping wife up with 2 am texts. Is there a global solution to the problem? Can I at least persuade GCMB to stop texting me? How?

Do you have the app or are you just using the native website?

If it is the app, then you probably have " push notifications" on.

While on the main forum page, click the "three lines" at the top left...and an options list will open.
Click "push notifications".
Then click to turn it off.

I don't use any apps. I just use the native website and it works great...and no notifications except for one in the top right area, but it doesn't "alert" you to them until you load the webpage.

Thanks. I don't use the app, but I have an idea.

Yea the only alerts that I am aware of with the native website are the ones that show up on the icon near the top right.
But they don't alert me via text or any other notification. I don't see any of it until I open the website

On Donk's advice, I unalerted dang near everything. Funny thing, NBC, NYT, Fox, etc., all send me unsolicited promos, but only GCMB makes noise and comes in the middle of the night. Hope it's solved.

Dude, no one knows WTF you are talking about. If it happens again please take a screenshot.

Also, my wife has been known to make noise and come in the middle of the night. :yum:

I use the native site on my phone and the only noise I hear is the chatbox each time a post is made.

I mocked him some in another thread, but answered as follows:

But no, it doesnt happen to me. There are some settings like "watch this thread" or something. I never get any notifications (because I don't click to notify me of this thread).

Also there is "alert preferences" in my control panel. Get to it by clicking on your own icon top right of the page (the one beside your oxbux total, its slightly different depending on the browser you are using). Make sure none of those are checked.

Just turn on your do not disturb and set up only the most important numbers to be able to still ring when it is on.
