Tonight we were Owned and Destroyed, even I as one of the head pumpers can see that. So the question now is do we tank the season to get White fired? Or do we just barely sneak into the tourney as a 9 seed and keep White for another maddening year next year? Do our guys and coaches have enough heart and pride to get better and win some games to get a respectable 4 or 5 seed? Is it all a mute point and we just focus on the next hire? Who do we go after? I see that someone had mentioned the Liberty coach. They just lost on the road to an 11-11 Stetson team and only scored 46 points. Scott Drew has Baylor looking like a Final 4 team. Do we throw $6 Million a year at him? How about Gregg Marshall at Wichita State? WSU was garbage before he came there. $6 Million a year for Marshall? Brad Stevens for $10 Million a year? I really don't think Billy D would come back. He was burnt out on the college game and recruiting nonsense. What other hot name do you see that GUARANTEES instant success, 24+ win seasons, NCAA Tourney success/Sweet 16s/Final 4s, high flying offense, and in your face tough defense?

It's not that question blunted at getting more wins or barely squeezing into March Madness. UF & fans want a team that can battle as underdogs and can play out proud. We want to see high-IQ plays well executed - a joy to watch. We want a head coach that can design an inside game for the tall players he's developing. Etc. etc. etc. We want a coach "on fire" and seeing him transfer that fire to his players.

Do you think these players believe White has any answers for them at all? 18 games into the season, has anything been worked out?

I remember a few years back White told one of our very cold 3-point shooters to shoot more.?? That player's misses were keeping the team from success. Could that be because White knows so little about an "inside game" that perimeter guard-shooting is all that he can envision? It's just that the Gators' whole application of their skills is dwarfed, unfocused, undeveloping. Many choices out there who would better at driving these Gators. The "do-little" White we have now is who we'll have for 5 years or more, with him coasting on mediocrity. The other SEC teams will not tolerate status quo. Their coaches will know that their teams better perform or mediocre coaches will be replaced. I want us to get started on a worthwhile program.

I was only able to see the 2nd half, so starting from a double digit deficit is not a complete way to judge a game. This is the third time I have seen Baylor and having seen practically every team, I can't believe they have only one loss. They are a typical Drew Baylor team, except I don;t think they are overly athletic nor is this Drew's best team at Baylor. So I give Drew and the players a ton of credit. They are good as a complete unit, but individually when watching they don;t appear that great. That is I guess by definition a TEAM. But what they are is a band of Junkyard Dogs that never quit, scrap and bully you for every inch on the court. UF was more athletic individually but does not like to be bodied, especially on the perimeter. Baylor challenges every shot taken and it is very difficult to get a clean look on them. I would say they play as hard as any team out there. They look like those teams that play in that TBT winner take all event. In this game against UF, Baylor looked a lot like LSU except I think Baylor is more physical but with less skilled individual players. But Baylor plays with a fervor of a bear (guess why they are called the BEARS), who has just emerged from hibernation and has not eaten in months. And the ball is food. The only time UF plays with that sense of urgency is when they get behind by double digits. It has happened in two consecutive games and both times UF had a chance. It was a combo of the urgency and the other team letting down, but what might happen if they played with that vigor when the games begin? UF does not seem to have the ability or the desire to impose anything on an opponent and perhaps that stems from the top? This team has more pieces than most of its opponents and is more talented than its record, but for the life of me can't seem to gel as a unit.

How much money do we throw at Scott Drew to get him to come to UF?

Scott Drew is one of those coaches that the CMW apologists say don’t exist.
Remember? There aren’t any coaches out there better than CMW. Pat Dooley alone told us that three times this week
Unlike CMW who inherited a top ten program, Scott Drew inherited a scandal ridden mess and look what he has done.
Imagine what he would have accomplished if he was hired five years ago........that is if he really existed which according to the experts he does not

Gotta go after Marshall or Drew so we can get better. Should we tank the season to get White gone quick or sneak into the tourney and live with another crap year under White?

I am not sure how far it has to fall before Scottie will fire a guy he just extended

It’s so bad that Vitale was trying to pimp the program all night last night. White is part of the inner circle so all the ESPN guys are fans of his

We had announcers who said "I don't understand why coach White isn't getting more out these All-American players." ??
I've never heard any other coach "criticized" like that. And his pedigreed family hasn't made him into a good coach. I wish he'd go ahead and enter the AD profession.

The thing that drives me nuts is that the MW defenders keep saying he needs more time to build the program and that it took Billy years to get it going. Makes my blood boil because it diminishes what Billy did for UF. We had 1 final 4 appearance and only 4 20+ win seasons, ever. 94 was an outlier if look at the seasons before and after. Billy won NC's and had won the east or sec 3 out of 5 years before MW got there. MW inherited an established program and fans are getting tired of mediocrity. Luckily for MW the easiest part of the schedule is coming up.

The key word you stated was desire.
Desire is hard to manufacture with a low energy coach

This comparison drives me nuts too because it’s so ridiculous.

Billy inherited a nothing program and was in the tournament in year three and the championship game in year four and ultimately left us a top ten program

Compare that to the program today and you have a more realistic comparison. CMW inherited a top ten program and in four short years has turned us into a top fifty program

At the end of the day, we'll still make the tournament...but you hit the nail on the head about why White should be canned anyway.

I have them finishing 19-12 at best with 18-13 more likely. I don’t think they get in with that record.

There are some teams that are struggling right now but have good coaches that will right the ship by tourney time. We aint one of then.

So the coach is totally responsible for a team that misses free throws, and some fairly easy shots? With some better offense we would have been competitive with the number one team. Not that I don't recognize that White is not as good as we would like, but who would you suggest we get to replace him???

After the game did Mike White say we are only 12 points away from being the team we want to be?
