I picked up a bottle of High West's A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 7 Scene 2. It was list price, $99, so not bad. Of course a few days later I walked into the Total Wine in Boca and they had it for $89. Good stuff.

Tried the Jack Daniels apple today. Hey, I like jack and I like apple. Horrendous! Tasted like concentrated apple syrup.

A few years back I made the mistake of buying a bottle of the Knob Creek Maple. Same rationale, I like bourbon and I like maple. It was a drain pour. The only flavored bourbon that works is Fireball.

ABC's are starting to get better bourbons in. Still nothing too rare, but I've picked up a few store picks, and they are getting Eagle Rare more frequently.

Had this in Nashville a few months back at the distillery--both were really smooth and highly recommended

I looked at the Belle meades yesterday but I hadn’t heard of them. Will give one a try. The smooth ambler was decent, but at the price point I think Russell’s is a better pour.

If you can find the Belle Meade Cask Strength for $60 or less, give it a shot. I haven't tried any of their finished products because I keep hearing they're too sweet and cloying. I would like to try the Belle Meade Honey, but only because of the hype.

Also a huge fan of Red Label Russell's Reserve (single barrel), Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, and Old Forester 1920 at that $60 price point

Agree. I typically don’t try anything in a sherry cask or the flavored stuff as it is typically way too sweet for me. A zillion boutique bourbons out there these days, but Beam Black is better than most of them ;)

If you hunt for it, you should be able to find some age stated Beam Black 8y/o. It is significantly better than the current stuff

Anyone tried Rabbit Hole bourbon? I picked up a bottle a week or so ago. Heavy oak and spicy...at least to me.

Finished off a bottle of Boulder Bourbon by Vapor Distillery last night. Cracked open a bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed after. I have to say... the difference was stark! BB is a fantastically smooth sipping bourbon in comparison. I’m a fan of WT RB but it has nothing on BB. Highly recommended (I would start with the “Colorado” version then try some of the others).

You're comparing something that's 84pf to something that's 116pf and you want to compare "smoothness"?
