I like EJ as well, but you can’t take the trash out unless he stinks. He proved himself this year and made me way more of a believer than I was before. I hope EJ doesn’t transfer, but if he does oh well we have AR15 or whatever the hell they are calling him nowadays

Nancy Pelosi is gonna freak out if she sees that UF has an AR15 in their program...you think he could come out with a play called “spray and pray” , “Full Auto” , or “Bump Stock”?

Here's thing that escapes some, Trask is "plug & play". In other words he can go in and execute the play and go to the right receiver once he gets the final call from the sideline. He's not effected by being pulled and inserted like Franks or a lot of other "momentum" type QB's.
Having the ability to change the 2 especially during a series instead of giving each of them the entire series changes defensive mindset and substitution giving our coaches upstairs a chance to find mis matches when either of them is on the field.....In other words BOTH of them need to play to maximize our offense with current personnel IMO....

You lose a little bit of the element of surprise when everyone in the stadium including the concessionaires knows why #5 is trotting into the huddle.

I think Jones has been in the offense for going on 3 years now. He can probably read defenses better than what we know or give him credit for. With him in there the defense has to adjust and substitute differently than what we saw this past year.....Jones can throw it's just a matter of Mullen letting him.

His play looked markedly better the last half of the season. As I’ve said elsewhere, I think he’s closing the gap. I’m not a big fan of alternating quarterbacks, although I do understand Mullen wanting to bring him along slowly.

He is never going to be game ready throwing against the scout team. No one does. And the occasional 3-5 plays just running straight read options isnt going to help either.

Necessity as the Mother of Invention. We’re one Trask injury or end of eligibility away from that happening.

I've thought the same thing. EJ has to have meaningful snaps in games where the outcome is still in doubt for us to have the success we all want next year, i.e. beating the dwags. I think Trask is a "team first" guy and won't get his panties wadded over sharing with EJ especially if it means trophies.

I would be shocked if EJ is named the starter coming out of camp to start the season. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. When Trask was given the opportunity, he took full advantage of it. So much so that even Franks saw the writing on the wall and decided to try his luck elsewhere and I wish him the best of luck. From recent history, I feel like we will see a repeat of last year with an effort to get EJ in a tad bit more this season. No matter what happens I think we are in good situation no matter who is named the starter. With all that being said, I think we have a potential game changer in AR. The future looks bright.

That isnt fixed.

Here is Max Emfinger's breakdown of the two quarterbacks. You decide who he favors:

Kyle Trask - Pro-style Quarterback - Florida
Trask is a gritty and courageous lunch-pail type who relies on intelligence and leadership over raw talent. While his arm strength and speed aren't noticeably superior to other college quarterbacks, he has the ability to lead and win through sheer will, smarts and guts. Trask can be a second or third-round pick, possibly higher. He will undoubtedly have a career as an NFL starter should he remain injury-free. His leadership abilities alone are enough to make him a starter, exemplified both on and off the field.

Emory Jones - Dual-threat Quarterback/Athlete - Florida
Jones possesses some rare innate talents as an athlete and could play several positions at the next level. Unfortunately, quarterback is not one of them. While his arm strength and speed are both superior, he does not possess the decision-making ability on or off the field to take it to the next level. The "it" factor is just not there with him, neither in field generalship nor in his ability to lead. That being said, he's a superior athlete and will be a very good receiver or defensive back at the next level. His leg musculature, strength, and gifted speed are qualities that nearly every NFL team is looking for.

Necessity as the Mother of Invention.

"Happynessity is the mother of intention.

Surest way is for EJ is to turn his turns into big, sure gains. I think once Trask is gone EJ will become an ESPN-highlight QB.

even if you didn't pull that straight from the depths of your azzhole, it really wouldn't matter. if trash had the arm of Payton Manning to go along with his concrete feet, which Trash does have, Mullins is still going to run the option... just as he is always done with every single quarterback he's ever had, including Leak. And the fvkking run game isnt going to work BECAUSE he runs option w non-running QBs.

Mullinz offense does not work without a running quarterback PERIOD. and we've seen since 2005, he is not going to change regardless of what quarterback he inherited. He changes play selection a little but he is still going to run the option when he does run.

It won't be too much for him....Like I said he's been around 3 years going into this next season including spring and fall camps where he taking a good amount of the reps(coaching) as well as a good number of BIG game reps over the last 2 seasons(he ain't scared no more)….he's a perfect QB for Mullens system other than I'd like to see him put on another 10-15#....barring injury I think this guy has 2 very good seasons in him after Trask is gone BUT I fully believe he can make our offense better this coming season by getting 25-35% of the reps....

While I agree that Trask will start and rightly so I also think we will see more of EJ and he’ll get more opportunity to throw. He has the same disadvantage that Trask had before he had to step in. Picking up the feel and nuances of the game. But he’ll do fine imo. He’s dynamic. I agree that a little added weight would help.

Trask has a firm lock on the starting position though imo. He will be more experienced, more comfortable and may actually have a running game to support him.

I have no doubt we have a stronger running game in 2020.
Look, I hope you are right. But I don't see a FB and traditional running game in our future any time soon.

We are sticking with the option and it's gonna keep looking like it does when you have a statue QB running the option.
