Gauging by the few responses here, I’d say we have a fan apathy problem. How long before it becomes a player apathy problem?
I haven’t seen it this lackluster since before Donovan was hired. Actually, before Kruger was hired.
Fan apathy is a possibility and I have no view either way, but do you feel it is the team's or sports responsibility to energize the fan base or is it the fan's responsibility to pull up the team or the sport? Depending on one's definition of entertaining, perhaps that would bring out more people? I have said for a zillion years that for a fan base who likes to think we are at the top of the totem pole in major sports, we are the most transient fan base of them all. When our team's suck balls, you are correct we can go full apathy and just complain and moan but yet do not "really" demand or make sure that something is done. Perhaps we know we are monetarily constrained and we just sit back and moan. At UF, if it is not football, the sport has to win at the absolute highest level to even draw a modicum of interest. I am not speaking of just this year's basketball team. I have been around a long time and seen above average to good teams in sports and still can't draw flies. I am of the belief that the team's have to warrant our support b/c the fan base will never be strong or united enough to get those in charge to make the decisions as quickly as they need to be made.
