Looks like 17-14 for the regular season and 1 - 1 in the SEC tourney and a 18-15 NIT team.

That's not the bad news. The bad news is that Mike White will definitely be back next season.

The good news is that the delusional people, that still think he is the guy, will finally see the light.

Your opinion got me to thinking. There is still plenty of season for many teams to get into the tourney, but say the NIT it is. Recent years have had teams decline invites to the NIT. For some reason i could see this team declining a NIT bid if it comes to that.
I would love it if we declined an nit invite. I never watch nit games and I don't even understand the freakin point of it.

Joakim and Scottie W come visit and challenge their manhood and throw chairs and break tables and they see the light.
Begin playing like their hair is on fire. Win out and make a run in the tournament. Or not.
White would never let that happen. Too much fire and passion on display there.

Just finished listening to Neil Blackmon and Eric Fawcett. They did an excellent job breaking down the problems with the program as well as the last 2 games.

They are also adamant that even if they are so bad they miss the NIT, he will be back. Local radio here in Jax says the same thing. I can't find anyone who says White will be gone at the end of the year. He will get a sixth season. I hope not. I can't suffer through more garbage coaching.

It wouldn’t be unprecedented. Stricklin gives everyone a raise and extension just before he fires them.

The biggest harm in keeping White is the unmitigated damage he'll do to the talents we have. They have already burned a season being taught loser's basketball. MW is a scaredy-cat, = afraid to use timeouts strategically, afraid a starter with 2 fouls might get his third, so pull him out as if he had 4.

Here's the frame White has these players dawdling in. = SEC is down this year. We've suffered no interfering injuries.
IMO, a decent coach would see & grab 6'10" & 6'11" athletes and make them, make them useful inside forces. Assign Pinklin to make Payne & Jitoboh forces inside let them bang until the refs curtail them. For Pete's sake don't have an HC curtail players' dynamic play, the very area where players develop advancing skills! White is a drag-anchor on our young Gators' development = that's a coaching felony.

They briefly mentioned Stricklin's history as AD. According to Fawcett and Blackmon, he is one of those ADs who takes too long to fire a coach. He could do that at cowbell. He'll get eviscerated if he does that at UF.

So White takes down UF's basketball program and he takes down UF's AD. This meek little man is actually a bull in a china shop. He's a threat, like McElwain, he can just stand around while his presence sucks everything downward.

What if our all-star kids recognize that they had a better coach in high school? (Who was paid $ 55K.)

Do you think Shaka Smart would leave Texas to come to UF? He was very successful at VCU with a CBI championship and a NCAA Final 4. He had great records at VCU but against lesser competition. At Texas he has had a much more difficult time and much more inconsistent there. He won the NIT Championship at Texas but also averages 16 losses a year there. He is pretty animated on the sideline and coaches hard but his teams have been very inconsistent at Texas. Greg Marshall? Chris Beard? There are some good coaches out there to be had.

Doesn't really matter. His sorry ass will be here next year, transfers and early entries will be excused because they didn't fit. The same nutswingers will be back pumping White and we'll suck again next year. Question is if Striklin will be ready to pull the trigger next year or if it will be just... one... more... year.

There’s no reason to delay. If Stricklin doesn’t pull the trigger immediately upon the end of the season I think he’s tilting the scale towards a bad legacy on top of...
- prioritizing baseball over football facilities. Baseball could have been played off campus for a season instead. It’s all about the football!
- giving Butters a raise and extension. He was clearly not the future of the program.

Above actions are currently balanced by
- pouncing on the opportunity to fire Butters after the death threat fiasco.
- hiring Mullen. Much better hire than the guy pundits like me wanted (Chipster).

This basketball season reminds me of Billy D's final year. Another very talented team that didn't quite mesh well at all and ended in a losing record and lost season in the dumper. We have our moments but for the most part play like crap and it isn't watchable at all.

True. I think by that point Billy’s head was already NBA bound. It takes tremendous focus (and skill) to get a team to gel. It also takes coachable players, which comes down to a matter of recruiting. Billy clearly has the skillset and produced outstanding results on both sides of the court when he had the drive and committed players. He and his staff knew how to coach and develop bigs, guards, and tweeners and Billy was a very effective motivator.

White showed he can recruit and rally willing players around a defensive philosophy, but utterly lacks the ability to conceive and force coherent and effective scoring against SEC and equivalent competition. He is a wreck with bigs. He demotivates young talent. He doesn’t develop players. So, he either needs to gut his staff and bring in people that can develop players, coach bigs, coach offense, and motivate - or be canned.
