Billy got tired of recruiting. How tired? The OKC beat writers, this season, reported that the only way Billy returns to college basketball is at a Duke, UK, or some team like that. Why? They specifically mentioned recruiting. He hates it and doesn't want to grind on the trail like he had to at UF. He has been the head coach for OKC since 2015 and he is still telling reporters how much he hates recruiting.
You are correct, Billy was sick of the hypocrisy of recruiting. I mentioned this before but it bears repeating
It’s tough enough to recruit at a “football school “ against the blue blood programs such as Kentucky, Duke, and UNC for the players needed to win at the level he did with a substandard facility
It’s next to impossible to recruit against the blue bloods when they are ALL cheating like crazy and we continue to view ourselves as above that stuff. This statement is not whining, it’s a fact. All you have to do is read through the transcripts of the FBI/Addidas investigation to understand what is really going on out there
So Billy is out there pitching to recruits with a glorified high school gym and nothing but a scholarship against the big boys that are offering hero worship on campus and lots of “support “ for the players family
