I’m not clear the point of leaving an analyst job at Florida for an analyst job at Bama.

Our AD doesnt allow us to hire talent just bc they are available. He budgets 180k for three analaysts and that is that.

We arent Bammer.

Hell we arent even Barn or Tinerc.

We are basically Vandy.

I have no idea what the market is for an analyst. Do you?

Just a rumor started by Drooly.
It's rare for a coach to return to a school where they were interim HC and was passed over.

I feel very confident Strong would return if the the DC post were offered.

So, where did he go? UF or AL?

Isn’t it sad that when the comp is this pedestrian, neither the media nor anyone else gives a shyt what happened?

Sometimes you have to pick up on little subtleties that go along way in telling you where someone’s ultimately going to end up.

I’d like to get a look at the length and cuff status of those pants to be sure, but the Jos A Bank dress shirt and no collar-stays just screams “this staff”.

Feeling good about this one.

I have deep feelings about the collar stays curling up. It screams neglect. I blame the excessive heat applied at the dry cleaner.

I take my collar stays out before washing or dry cleaning.

I stopped trying to remember a long time ago. I finally went back to button-down collars. I’m past the point of wearing ties to the office. What you see is what you get.

Quit using plastic collar stays and go to metal ones. About a year ago I cut my thumb working out in the yard with a Corona pruning saw. I knew I had also cut through my extensor tendons. It was a pretty deep cut. After I got the bleeding stopped I washed the laceration out then went inside to find a splint to put my thumb in full extension and keep it positioned. The only thing I could find that would work and was available was a metal collar stay. I fashioned that stay into a splint for my thumb and wrapped it with some band-aids. Didn't have to go to the ER. Went to the orthopedic clinic and the hand surgeon repaired my tendons. Had to wear a thumb spica cast for four weeks then a velcro splint for another four. My thumb has 100% extension capability now.

That's my shirt collar stays story. Keep metal ones that don't curl up like plastic. Keep looking sharp. Plastic ones are too flimsy to make splints.

Of course, I always wear a short-sleeve button down. I’m trying to instill in my financial clients the feeling of being at McDonalds.

It depends. Saban has lured actual on-field coaches from D1 schools like Troy, La-Lafayette, South Alabama and other to leave their on-field coaching job to be an analyst at Alabama (of course the pay off is landing a lucrative assistant job at an SEC or other P5 school paying much more than the $60K or so they're making at a South Alabama/UAB type school).

I don't want to take away from the rest of you boss story because it's great. But I'm going to focus on the opening and closing statements. Unless you've just completely thrown in the towel like '78, get a pair of brass ones. They obviously look better and hold up. But also you'll find yourself taking them out after each wear, which solves the wash/dry-cleaning concern. If you want to go all "green bean almondine" with the button down collars, and pretend the world hasn't moved on from that, you're free to do so. But it's just so much easier to drop the 8 bucks and get metal collar stays.
