Is that a fair comparison? Shorter and linguard spent 2 years at their school and at least showed flashes..
when did lingard show a flash?

I'm not even sure shorter did? he played a couple games as a freshman then got fat and lost his job to a walk-on that doesn't sound like a flash either.

He dropped in the rankings because of off field issues. He was a 5* when he committed to us. .
link? given that Dan Mullins never landed a five-star in history, I think we would remember it.

Is that a fair comparison? Shorter and linguard spent 2 years at their school and at least showed flashes. AC was here 4, right?, and did nothing and was not injured, etc.

I don't know all of the statistics, but there are some players that do pan out and some that do not. I think if we are being mathematical and honest, then we would have to accept the fact that the probability distribution of 5* transfers and their corresponding success rates is not the same as 5* players coming straight out of high school.

However, the two that we took were injured their first year. So, who knows if they are busts or if they simply fell behind schedule due to their injuries.

So you made him an honorary 5*?

#29 overall is a 5 star by the end of the year. They expand the # of 5* players throughout the year for marketing purposes so people get excited about so&so becoming a 5*. Final rankings are the only thing matter, and Manuel would have been a 5* by the end if he had his act together.

Look, I dont really care about anything but this:
2020 Rivals.com Florida State rankings

When we get to the point of getting "our share" of the Florida top 25, say one third at least, one half is better especially w Nulls and Scum in da shytter, and we will be pointed back in the right direction.

That HAS to stop. Taking leftovers isnt good enough.

I read the PSU stuff - they raved about Shorter at the end of his freshman year - especially bowl time. Seems like he fell out with the coaches more than anything. Guess we’ll see. Grimes didn’t show much in his one year at OSU but I’m glad he’s here.

Lingard is more questionable due to injury but beggars cant be choosers when Knox is recruiting. You know this.

Doing poorly at recruiting any position is STUPID!
Look, we have the highest-ranked School of Advertising & Marketing. Put recruiters/coaches with these experts. Let the 2019 recruiting spiels from each recruiter. Let our marketing experts critique those {that would be the punishment phase for those dummies} First, sell our university. Sell the closeness of the oceans Gulf & Atlantic, etc. Then let the coaches partner with the marketeers on individual positions to sell. Generate a manual for reference to. Look at the success of America at selling everything.

These kids are ranked 5* out of high school for a reason; perhaps they suffered an injury or things didn't work out with their coaches in the transition to college ball.

Any school and coaches recruiting these transfers must evaluate the situation and be confident that the prospect can fill a need and contribute; they're not coming here to ride the pine, and it definitely affects future recruiting.

For example, we brought in Lingard, yet we are still trying to recruit Evans.
And we all hope that Lingard will get a waiver and not have to sit out a year.
So how does that affect the decision-making process of Evans? Do you think that other schools aren't going to recruit against that?
These 5 star kids want to know that there's an opportunity to get snaps right away; they're competitive and want to get on the field and make a difference--that's why they're at the top of the list.
They also understand that a previous injury does not necessarily rule out competition.

You can bet that anything that can be sold against us will be expressed in the recruiting process.
This is another reason why, while transfers can help us, they can hurt us just the same, and why we simply can't rely on transfers to fill the holes in recruiting.

Going to... as in, hasn’t yet... not the story on Shorter.

I get that, but thats a completely separate discussion. Personally, I still would have taken Clayton and then fired knox.
Of course but i don’t have sway in his employment. If i did, he would’ve never been hired in the first place.

12 catches and zero TDs, followed by one cheeseburger short of 250 means he showed something? He has the same number of TDs as Rick Wells.

Look, I hope Shorter performs, and realistically it doesn't really matter much either way. Hell, a "good" receiver for us is 500-600 yards. So in the long run he doesn't matter much either way, but saying 12 catches means he had arrived is kinda silly.

You’re right. The top RB in the entire class, who picked the f’ing dwags, with their loaded RB roster did so because he is afraid of competition. At least if Evans picks Ole Miss we have a good excuse that he was afraid of our depth.

Maybe if it leaks right beforehand, like Britt, we can have recruiting reporter tweet “as expected” Evans picks somewhere else. With Evans, who the hell knows, bit Britt was committed months before we now all take this approach of “well, he was never ours.”
