Do you get the flu shot?

Wondering how many of you get the flu shot annually? I do 'cause I am old and subject to get anything going around, but some don't think it does any good or even gives them the flu. I worked in the health care field and it was mandatory. I also have gotten the pneumonia shot, pertussin shot, tetanus shot and most importantly, the shingles shot. Wish they had a shot for Alzheimers!

I’ve been getting them for the last 5-6 years religiously.

When I was young, mid to late 20s, I got them twice a couple years apart and both times I got the flu though not bad. basically down for 1 day.

In 2009 I got the flu that had me in bed for 3 full days. Scared me a little. That was the worse I’ve ever been sick.

Late last year I got more of a stomach-flu bug. Minor fever and very minor aches, but got dehydrated. It was bad. Worse I’ve ever had. Coming out both ends at the same time 30 min after I swallowed anything.

I will continue to get them. At my age I won’t take the chance. This December I lost a high school friend a year my junior.

I get it every year because my work puts me in close contact with hundreds of people every week, many of them elderly. Also, my wife has lupus so her immune system has to be suppressed. If I get the flu she’d likely get it and that’s really bad and even dangerous.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually had the flu. Maybe. But if so it wasn’t memorable. I miss work due to illness very rarely. Not for years.

I get a flu shot every year and the pneumonia every five. I've had a stem cell transplant and my immune system has thus been compromised, so those immunizations are a requirement. So far, I have not had the flu since beginning this regimen. My wife and two children get one each year as well and they have remained flu-free. We go to the family doctor and don't fool with the pharmacies however.

Every year.. But haven't had the flu since 1957.. Asian flu pandemic.. Can't get the flu from the shot anymore as they no longer use live vaccine. Also get all the others as needed..

I haven't gotten one since I left the pharmaceutical field. Bayer required us to have all kinds of vaccines as part of our job working with human blood plasma. Haven't gotten the flu before or after, so Im lucky I guess. I figure I might start getting one when I turn 60 or so.

I used to get ALL the shots, thx to Uncle Sam, and can't remember ever getting the flu but do remember getting a little sick feeling after each flu shot...Aching, headache, sniffles, etc. but never missed a day of work because of them.

However, since '09 (retired) I have not gotten any flu shots and haven't gotten sick. Period. No illnesses. None. My wife never gets the flu shot either. Same for my 2 grown children. They're all pretty healthy IMO and while they haven't been as sick free as I've been fortunate enough to be, they have been mostly healthy.

However, I do suffer allergies and that is a day to day battle that, thx to allegra, I win more than I lose.

It’s funny. My wife wouldn’t let any family touch or hold our babies unless they had their vaccines and of course washed their hands prior and in sight.

I get my shot annually. I’m a believer in vaccinations. I find it comical of those who are anti-vaccines

Oh I’m not an anti-vaccines and my kids get all that stuff...I’m just not big on getting the flu shot myself. It’s a combination of being lazy, forgetful, and generally being pretty healthy that I don’t get it

Didn’t mean to suggest you were. It was two separate thought but all in the quote.

I didn't until we got our daughter, and the wife got the nasty version of the flu. So every year we go to publix get our flu shot and our $10 gift card.

The last time I got one was 7 years ago before our first kid. Made me feel awful for two days and haven't done it since. My wife got one this year as she was pregnant and they hit the bone or something and her arm was in extreme pain for a week.

I missed last year, got the flu in August, wtf! First time in 30 years I can remember having a fever, 102.5 for just under 2 days, I now understand how it can decimate the, cough, old folks. I was a whiny biatch :) god bless my niece who delivered panera chicken soup! Gave Publix $20 for the shot in December.

I’ve done the shot for the last six years-
Always feel a little crappy a few hours afterwards but I haven’t had the flu in ... six years.

too bad it doesn’t work on the common cold, but I’ll take that any day of the week over the flu.

Been getting the flu shot for the last several years. Figured last thing I need is the flu. Also went ahead and got shingles vaccine. Not old enough for the pneumonia shot yet.

Yeah
I got the second round shingles shot in one arm and the flu shot in the other. NOT recommended- felt like fecal after that debacle
