You need to watch it, Urg. Ox has said several times that he wishes NV would accept a mod position.

Way to go. I have a 14 month old boy.

Here’s the blunt truth. 1st month is awesome.

months 2-5 are magical, no doubt, but it becomes a grind making bottles, washing them (constantly washing and making bottles, constantly!)

around 6 months, personality develops and you can interact with her more. This is where the true magic is. Everyday is better than previous. Being a dad is the best

I’m happy for you

Thank you everyone for all the well wishes.

We have made it home and everyone is doing great.

Btw, these microfiber wraps for swaddles are incredible. She loved it as soon as we wrapped her up.

Big little-one congratulations, to "mom" and "dad"urg.

Seriously = The only sensory nerves your newborn has developed are those for sucking (nursing). That nerve-network started learning activity
while in the womb. Right now it is the way your baby learns. So avoid denying the babe her rights to put to her mouth objects that you supply = different shapes, even add some warmth to objects. The more variety of temps & shapes the more neural fibers will she recruit to recognize = growing in smartness. A "smart" child has more neurons than the average child. Have joy just watching how she appreciates these "gifts" playthings. As you are knowing some deeper magic your child is doing all on her own.

Right off baby cannot see colors or exact visual shapes. Best stimulants are shapes, temperatures, and sounds use a variety of voices to stimulate more neuronal pathways. Use a variety of soothing voices near each ear & distances too. You're providing what Brain Scientists call "enriched environment". There are books on this ... Brain Plasticity is the subject. Merzinich is the pioneer in this (he created the cochlear implant) so he knows brain development. God Bless what you will experience.
