There! White's template is randumbness. It keeps you hoping but real ball never breaks out.

White is a curse. All will see that after he's gone. Any decent coach would see that when we drive with speed, scores happen. Then he would start practicing that most effective way and the team would gel ... with their own identity. They'd crash the offensive boards, knowing that with the ball in that vicinity more scores occur -- granted almost all HCs know that ... but ours never does. So we play "just-so" then play smart. We win, we lose, ho-hum.

White's soul psyche is "fun is no fun". "Energetic playing is where mistakes occur." Don't go there. in practice "no, no, no!
Players who indulge in their All American joyful playing must refrain. "You'll learn to win this way or you'll lose." So everybody loses.

This. Well phrased!

Protects a lead like Zook, emphasizes offense like Muschamp, and as motivational as DeVoe.

Lost in the shuffle was Blackshear and Locke carrying the team and helping them rally. Both had great games.

We all know White is not going anywhere at the end of another mixed season. Enough highs that the pro camp can point to explain away the lows. I genuinely believe his fate will be set depending upon what happens after the season is over. If we have another exodus of transfers and early entrants, then proverbial die will be cast, because we will be looking at another year of inconsistency next season that should be impossible to overlook the trend line. If he succeeds in keeping everyone other than Blackshear, then next year will be the ultimate put up or shut up year.

We need Veritas to secretly film a couple of Mike White practices?
Coach K has a You-tube video of a Duke practice. = not dedicated to getting shooters open for 3s.??
So should White's faith in perimeter play de-emphasize inside shots? The backdoor is there 9 times/game; ball handler doesn't even look??
Payne's hand is up, ready to receive for the dunk. Use your visual memory; how frequently does Payne get a pitchback? Our inside tall-man (1) could score at a 55% + clip. 2) could score plus get free-throws & a foul on the enemy's big-man ?

FG% leaders = Payne at 60.8 % .... KJ at 54% ...... Jitoboh at 51.7 %. Payne & Jitoboh are underused and getting too little playing time to develop. That's just what we need = a nationwide announcement that UF does not develop the tall inside players. The team's spirit rises with every dunk and layup. (that could be useful in keeping pace)

A shooting % of 45.5% is a "good" that we could raise to better with more layups??
In harsh season's end play is the wrong competition to expose our inside freshmen to develop them .... but here we are? So do it.
When fans like the coach and recognize the confidence of such coach (Donovan) we put faith in him. No real faith in White. Too late for White to fix stuff right. Hope nobody bolts from White's non-coaching.

2nd game in a row I did not watch and we are 1-1. UT is not good but any road game in SEC is dangerous. Reading the thread says to me SSDD. But in regards to Payne specifically, Mike has misused him almost all season. First off he has not played nearly enough. And when he did Mike had him posting up on the low block. The kid is not a back to the basket offensive weapon. He has had what two good games on offense this year and both of them was b/c he was the ultimate garbage collector. Payne should never be a part of a planned offense. Dude is athletic as hell and should get everything on off. rebound putbacks, alley oops, back door cuts, loose balls, etc. He is too damn long and athletic to be sitting on the pine. And last nite I watch some goofy, non athletic, tall white doofus on UVA block TEN (10) shots in one game. ONE GAME against Duke. I am not sure Omar Payne has 10 total blocked shots all season. He probably does but you get the point. Guy should be playing as the human eraser on defense and as the garbage collector on offense. With time (and coaching) his offense could improve, but strictly on talent and athleticism only, he should be making a difference in every game!

FF, you see the same stuff White keeps watching, but White makes no judgment except against Payne playing. Get him in there and let him foul out, if Payne's aggression gets him that. After that 19 points, 11 rebs Auburn game, how can White be in a quandary about how to play Payne?
You see it = here is your 2 million $.

The turnovers in the second half put the nails in our coffin. They threw the ball out of bounds so many times, I lost count. They looked like crap the first half too. Some of that was aggressive fouling by Tennessee.

Scoring 17 whole points in the first 20 minutes... anything else is just icing on the cake of coaching ineptitude.

Maybe my expectations are too high :dunno:, but I would think we could score more than 17 points in a half. Then again.....

Better win these last 2.

Spot on Rob: poor ball handling sank our ship on too many occasions. It seems like we lose and we have a great first half in the next game and when we win we have a poor first half the next game. Oddly, we seem to run over our opponents when we play those good halves, but seldom do we play a complete game. 19 points down with 10 minutes to go and we close the score to have a chance to win. If we play complete games, it looks like we can beat anyone, but ball handling is part of a complete game. 11 unforced turnovers equate to a big hole to dig out of.

Is it coaching? Probably, but he should get these young players to stop reading their headlines and recognize there is thing called a team. Young "star" players may have shouldered the game in high school; but they need to understand that they have a team of those players on the floor.

Go Gators!

We do not have enough brains cutting to the basket to become threats. Ball handlers slow everything down giving defenders time to glance around and figure where our play is gonna be. This is allowing your pass receiver to get blanketed with coverage -- and that slows passing and puts a defender or 2 in the vicinity where we want to go. Passes are more prone to be TOs that way. These boys want to go fast, that's what their bodies are used to. Superbad coach to not take that advantage and train it into our youngsters.

There was definitely a reason pundips ranked us at #6 preseason? Because we had the players who were very productive. White gets his way with them and they deteriorate unto unimportance when they've been a big-wheel all their BBall careers.?? Get a dynamic HC in here.

How do we keep coming out so damn flat??? 9 mins. without scoring to end the first half was tuff to recover from but then let them hit that 3 at the end with 2 seconds to inbound and shoot was a dagger in the heart.
To say White was out coached is obvious.
Forcing a 4th year player who had literally zero made 3 pointers in his career take a desperation 3 as the clock expired was an example of bad coaching? Not sure I follow that.

Your point guard more or less determines tempo of the team and I'm sure you have noticed, Nembhard is anything but a speedster. His strengths are his length, vision, passing and he can be pretty good driving to the hoop. His 3 pt shooting is decent and he usually has a good handle, but in this game the whole team had serious turnover issues. Glover is faster but not nearly as talented, inexperienced, and about half a foot shorter than Nembhard.

Overall I would say Andrew has been the second best player on the team this year behind Johnson. We will only go as far as those two can take us which is pretty far if they can get on a streak considering the talent around them. This was a tough loss. I do think there were a lot of blatant fouls against us when we were trying to score inside in the first half, and all those no calls on the road in a loud hostile environment can demoralize players. But they surprised me with how tough they played in the second half coming all the way back from a huge deficit. But when Dorkulson made a perfect swish as his first career 3 with the clock expiring I knew the comeback wasn't meant to be. Whatever the reason, the loss sucked bad though.

Nembhard and Lewis had 6 pts collectively. That should NEVER happen, ever. The rest we already now about. I could name several teams around the country that would have 22 wins with this team and be right up UK ass for reg season champ. Cal could take ours and White take his and he'd beat us by 15 still. Tony Bennett would be undefeated.

Hingeworthy, cringeworthy, we should have faced UT with a UF much stronger than what we did. The coach-fail takes place during practices?
In not coming out with a dominating inside game = built around KJ & Blackshear constantly attacking the basket. Payne should be contributing while developing. White is acting like Payne being in will cause us to start falling further behind??
