Looks like you're getting ready to plant a garden. I guess that's what you needed all the trash fish for. Fertilizer.

I will admit that catfish caught in rivers and ponds is some fine damned eating but speckled perch fresh is excellent fare. One of my greatest meals was lunch at my grandmothers. We came home from phosphate pits near Mulberry with a mess and we cleaned them still alive and she fried them for lunch. Some of the best fish I EVER ate...........

A new state record for carp has been broken! Brenden Burnham caught this 35 pound, 3 ounce carp at Virginia Lake in Reno yesterday. The previous state record was 34 pounds 10 ounces. This is very exciting for us and for Brenden, who has caught and entered 46 carp trophy fish over 15 pounds in 2019. Congratulations Brenden!

I know, I've eaten plenty of crappie myself. I'm just giving you a hard time. Isn't that what we come here for?:jog:

My memory of some of those pits were that the gators were bigger than our little john boat...... ;). We used to put out lines on mids and then sell the turtles and catfish to the weekend maintenance crews.

Had a big shark take a trout from me a couple weeks ago
Looked like someone threw a refrigerator in the water by the boat
Had a massive hammerhead take a kingfish about 15 miles out of Jax years ago right on the surface. It’s something you never forget.

As I walked Islamorada's commercial fishing dock, I had to stop. A boat captain slit open a hung up hammerhead and 24 perfectly formed hammerhead babies tumbled out. Talk about reducing the shark population.

The mako shark is the fastest fish, being clocked at 46 mph.

Another true event from my Islamorada days on how I obliviously stumble into things.. I was snoozing on that sandy beach, waiting for lunchtime to roll around. An odd feeling of jumbled activity woke me. To my left, I saw two beautiful bikini babes lying on a "blanket". Hubbub drew a look to my right - two more exquisite beauties spreading their beach-nest next to me on my right. Looking more back over my right, I saw a whole van-load of model-beauty girls unloading.?? Over my opposite shoulder, I saw a cue of fancy jet skis and out of an ESPN van came the clipboard man with 3 camera men following. My solitary sun-nap was getting tsunamied by the Jet Ski World Championships. I quickly left, being the only ugly thing on that shore.

I fell asleep on the beach at Bahia Honda to end up with a stiff neck for a week and got so wasted at Fantasy fest I had to take a cab back to Bahia Honda from Key west...not cheap
