Are they going to cancel the XFL season? What about the NFL Draft? Hell, are they going to close the strip and the casinos in Vegas?

Maybe we can cancel tax season? No? Anyone?

But seriously we do need to be sure we close the places where we know 100% of people go at some point - grocery stores. It is the only way.

Duke and Kansas have withdrawn from the NCAA Tournament

Mike White's dad is forcing the NCAAs hand in which he also chairs the NCAA Tournament selection committee...only a matter of time now

There’s one bright spot to this. Fsu had their first legit chance to win it all this season and that is all gone.

It does suck, but it is the smart thing to do. Everything I read or listen to says covid-19 is highly contagious. Also, what is the point in continuing the tourney in 6-8 weeks? By then, the NBA would be back also and it would be draft time. Duke, Uk, and others wil have basically lost their team. How do you even seed them at that point?

That could potentially be an interesting tournament played by a bunch of walk ons :)

I refuse to work.....this sucks. March Madness is my favorite time of the year. Guess we have to talk to each other now.

I can’t stop thinking about it. This is terrible man, March Madness is the greatest sporting event ever.

I get taking precaution, but why outright cancel and not just suspend it until this is under control and there’s a vaccine?

Everything would be pushed back, including the draft though...

The draft doesn't have to be pushed back. It is at the end June. Plus, there have already been guys announcing for the draft.

Nothing political. It’s math. If the death rate of the regular flu is 0.1%, and the death rate of Covid-19 is 2.1% (based on the chart NV provided), that means Covid-19 is 21 times more deadly than the regular flu. 21! Does that not count as far higher? That’s like if one football team scores 7 points in a game, and the other team scores 147.
I think when the final stats come out the death rate will be far, far, far lower than 2.1%. I think it will be well under 1 percent - perhaps even below 0.5%. Time will tell.

In 2009, 60 million Americans got the Swine Flu, 300,000 of them serious enough to get hospitalized. There wasn't even 1% of the hysteria then as we see now. It's ludicrous.

I think we'll look back and realize how dumb it was to cancel everything in life for something that kills less than the flu.

It's an election year. Either that, or this is a false flag operation of some sort to distract from a larger problem that the gubmint doesn't want to have exposed.

So why are you against postponing the Big Dance? Or did I misunderstand your post?

Give me May Madness or June Madness, I don’t care. Just try to postpone it first before canceling

I'd rather have a March Madness, but I understand cancelling it. How would it work if Uk or Duke plays but is losing half of its starters? How would the seeds work? You can argue those players would play anyway, but would they? Or, would they already be prepping for the June draft? We could try and find out. It would make it more interesting. The number of players with genuine nba chances is small.
