Asian carp escaped from catfish farms when the MS river overflowed its banks and have been slowly migrating upstream. The Illinois River is full of them and there are canals that connect the IL river to Lake Michigan.

The carp were put in the catfish farm ponds to eat algae and such.

Fodderwing, I've seen/heard reports that there's a tremendous fear over these carp making it into lake Michigan. Does that relate to the commercial fishing industry ... or what?
