That is a shame. RIP sir.

Dear Abby, Dear Abby,
Well I never thought
That me and my girlfriend would ever get caught
We were sitting in the back seat just shooting the breeze
With her hair up in curlers and her pants to her knees.
Signed, Just Married.

An incredible storyteller with his music.

There's a rainbow of babies
Draped over the graveyard
Where all the dead sailors
Wait for their brides
And the cold bitter snow
Has strangled each grassblade
Where the salt from their tears
Washed out with the tide

John Prine and Steve Goodman were close friends.
Goodman was another incredible singer/songwriter:
City of New Orleans (Arlo Guthrie)
You Never Even Called Me By My Name (David Allen Coe)
California Promises, Banana Republics and This Hotel Room (for you Buffett fans, Goodman was a Coral Reefer for a while)

Here they are together ... (and now together again :)

Broken hearts and dirty windows
Make life difficult to see
That's why last night and this mornin'
Always look the same to me

I bought my first Prine album in 1972 during my hippie days and still listen today but I regret that I never saw him live.
If you haven't heard of Guy Clark, give him a listen. He was a legendary songwriter that passed about 4 years ago.

Oh hell yes... Home Grown Tomatoes, Dublin Blues, LA Freeway...
Desperados Waiting for a Train is a killer song.

And here we are... bringing this full circle.
John Prine ... singing a Guy Clark song!
(a duet with one of the sweetest voices ever... Emmylou)

Been in love with Emmy Lou for over 30 years. The Queen of melancholy

A movie is about to come out on the Life of Guy Clark "Without Getting Killed or Caught" The clips I've seen are dynamite

cannot wait to see that.

in Ken Burns Country Music documentary she recalls her “religious conversion” to country music.
I have such a crush on her that I hardly heard what she said so I had to rewind it. It’s a great story with her and Gram Parsons.

Parson's is another boss. He was from Winter Haven and grew up there and in Georgia. Too soon gone
