Watching it right now on ESPN. Jordan is dropping “F” bombs left & right. I’m surprised ESPN isn’t bleeping them out.

So, here’s a good one:

I was filing some paperwork at the Palm Beach County clerks office, when I notice Jordan is filing paperwork in front of me. I snap a photo, and think nothing of it (other than I just saw Michael F’ing Jordan)

Later in the day, I realized he was applying for a marriage certificate.

So, I sold my photo to TMZ. Can’t tell you for how much cause I signed a confidentiality agreement, but it was easily in the thousands.

My photo, and the one on TMZ.com is below. It was such a fun day. I even spoke with the head of TMZ to negotiate the price. Surprisingly, a nice guy: went to Miami Law School.

Did I intrude in Jordan’s life, yes. Does he intrude in mine, when I’m trying to watch a game and we have to cut away for one of his ads, yes.

We’re even.

ESPN has the cussing version, ESPN2 airs the bleeped version at the same time.

Thanks for the info. I wasn’t commenting on the “F” word because I’m offended...I’ve heard that word 3 times in my life so I can take it. It was more a comment about my surprise this was on a free station. I thought the FCC had rule about language like this and would dish out hefty fines to broadcasters who didn’t bleep foul language out. Maybe those rules only apply to shows on ABC, NBC & CBS?

ESPN isn’t free.

That’s debatable. Free meaning you don’t pay extra for ESPN as a stand alone station like HBO...absolutely it’s free. Free as in you get it without having to buy an upgraded package that has ESPN and 50 or so other channels bundled together to extract extra cash from you while providing additional eyeballs for channels nobody would otherwise watch (think AMC Channel)...no it’s not free in that sense.

Bottom line is that ESPN isn’t a pay channel which is the point I was trying to make.

Lived in Chicago and worked out at the Bulls practice facility 85-90. Jordan was by far the most friendly of the players on the team until he was deluged by the attention he received. Truly was a class act, signed some great memorabilia for me. That said, his competitive desire, I believe, overcame him. He was big on gambling at golf and some said owed big $ covering his bets. Tragic how his dad died and he then suddenly switched to playing minor league baseball. I wouldn't be surprised if David Stern knew about his betting and told Michael he needed to take some time off from the NBA.

You worked there from 85 to 90 and don't have a single decent story to tell? Come on man, give us something.

This documentary has less to do with the final season and more of being an I LOVE MIKE show. In fours hours, they have shown about 20 minutes of footage about the 98 season.

There's a lot of love about Mike as a player - the current crop can't hold a candle to him. I wasn't expecting the full history dating back to the early 80's in the doc, but I've been pleasantly surprised by it.

Other than Pippen's crappy contract, there really isn't anything that is news, for me.

Just watched the second episode. Pippen was a very good player. Mistake to sign 7 year contract. He looks like he barely aged in 20 years.
Now you can watch the 3rd and 4th episodes.

It’s a documentary. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the ’97-’98 Bulls, not some boring-ass replay of games. Who’d want to sit through 10 episodes of that? Fans know they met the Jazz in the Finals for a second year in a row, that the series was a lot closer than it appeared after Pippen needed a cortisone injection for a badly injured back after Game 3, and that MJ willed them to a last-minute win in Game 6 highlighted by The Pose. Who knows if the Bulls take the series if they don’t win that game. Pippen likely wouldn’t have played a Game 7.

What fans may not know is how cutthroat, obsessive or emotional Jordan was, or the various side shows that took place that nearly derailed a shot at a sixth title. Twitter blew up over the notion of MJ breaking into Rodman’s bedroom (with Carmen Electra hiding under a blanket) after the Worm went missing for 72 hours in Vegas, his mid-season “vacation.” I laughed at Pippen, about offseason surgery, explaining that “I wasn’t going to f*ck up my summer.” Viewers are going so far as to follow the ups and downs of MJ’s tequila-filled glass during the expletive-filled interviews at his South Florida mansion. Man, this is some good stuff.

I closely followed the MJ Bulls from the ‘80s start to ‘90s finish. I’ve read two books, including The Jordan Rules. I thought I knew everything there was to know about the championship runs. Turns out there was plenty I didn’t know, the best of it not on the clock. It’ll get to the games. There’s 10 episodes. I’m enjoying the hell out of the backfill in the meantime.

I am really enjoying this documentary and I am looking forward to parts 5 and 6 tonight.

There is one thing we have seen so far that I must comment on.
We all know, and the documentary has validated, how competitive MJ was/is and how it made him great.
However, I had forgotten how petty and childish he could be but I was reminded when they revisited the controversy over the "no handshake." I am not saying that I agreed with what the Pistons did but a little perspective would have been productive.

First, whether MJ wants to admit it or not, the Pistons did in fact do exactly what the Celtics did three years prior. In both instances the team "passing the baton" walked off the court before the game was over without congratulating the winners. What Thomas said about McHale being stopped as he left the court was exactly the truth. All of the other starters had already left. Where do you think the Pistons got the idea?

Second, MJ's comparison to when he congratulated the Pistons after prior losses does not hold water at all because the situation was different. When MJ congratulated the Pistons he was not "passing the baton." That is, the Bulls had not won anything yet.

Third, we have no way to compare how MJ would have handled the same situation because he bailed before he had to find out what it was like to face the end of your dominance. Nothing wrong with going out on top but understanding what it was like probably would have given him some perspective.

Regardless of whether you agree with me or not, for MJ to keep Thomas off the Dream Team because of the handshake slight may be THE most petty and vindictive thing to occur in NBA history. I am embarrassed for MJ because I shudder to think what it must be like to feel the need to use your influence to severely punish someone for such a small indiscretion. Ego can be a dangerous weapon sometimes.
