Bottom line is that ESPN isn’t a pay channel which is the point I was trying to make.
Your point is wrong.

First, Espn isnt free, you have to pay for it and second, free isnt what FCC regulates anyway.

FCC regukates BROADCAST stations (equals radio/tv waves), that is your local Abc, Cbs, Fox and Nbc channels.

Fumny thing is I was checking out his girl’s butt, that I didn’t know MJ was standing next to her, until my buddy pointed him out to me.

it was such a nice booty that I didn’t even notice Michael F’ing Jordan standing right next to it.
Pic?

No, my point is clear...and correct. ESPN isn’t a station that you can purchase from your cable company on a standalone basis for an extra monthly fee (I’m talking pre-streaming days as I still use ATT U-Verse). HBO on the other hand you can.

ESPN is included in the lineup as a basic channel rather than a premium channel like HBO. Do you pay for the package of channels that happens to include ESPN and is there an internal cost passed on to the consumer-sure there is, as I acknowledged. Can you call up your cable company and a la carte select just ESPN over the bare bones basic cable package for $15 like you can a premium channel like HBO-no as I already pointed out.

So substitute the words basic & premium, which would have been better choices by me in my other post, rather than free vs not free, so be it, but my point should be clear. If we really want to get in the weeds, we could argue broadcast channels ABC/NBC/CBS aren’t “free” but paid for with tax dollars but I think you get my drift.

Regarding FCC regulations, thanks for clarifying, I hadn’t studied up on the rules lately and had forgotten what the differentiator was regarding what they are able to regulate and the reasons why.

Ox, you can PM me if you'd like about several of the meets I was fortunate to have with MJ, as well as Doug Collins.

Why would you tell me in PM's but not tell us all here?

Y’all PM if you want to know which prominent GCMB member’s oldest son checked MJ in 6 pick-up games at his MJ Summer Camp in 1987. Might even be a clipping with pic somewhere on the WWW....

Just caught up. Documentaries like these usually have me looking at my phone half the time, but I'm enjoying this and no need for distractions.
Glad to see they showed the "glory era" of my Charlotte Hornets (version 1.0) before the owner chickened out and moved to Nawlins.

You’re the only person I’ve ever heard in my life tell me that the Detroit Pistons really weren’t any different than anyone else in that era.

At this point nobody has told you that.
I said that they stepped up the physical part of the game from what the Celtics were playing.
I also said that I didn't agree with the style they played.
I was simply pointing out that it wasn't like they were the first team to play an aggressive style of basketball.

The difference was that they were not a group of likeable characters so they were judged more harshly than the other teams of that era.

Yeah, but they weren't a group of likable characters BECAUSE they were bullying thugs on the floor. What am I missing here?

I have found some of the articles talking about this as interesting as the program itself. Saw one yesterday about what they almost traded his rights for in the draft. The Clippers offered them a haul they considered and he almost ended up in Atlanta playing with Wilkins. The what if’s are very fascinating.

I don’t know what else to say about this.

Dan Feldman with NBC Sports wrote an article today that perfectly explains everything I have said.
The difference is that the article has Kevin McHale saying everything I have said in multiple posts. Maybe him saying it will be easier to understand.

I don’t know how to attach the article because I am not that savvy with my phone
That probably has something to do with being 32 when the Pistons were champions just like McHale so maybe we old guys interpret things differently

I watched a ton of NBA back then. I don’t recall the Bird-McHale-Parrish Celtics being at all rough house. Maybe against the Bad Boy Pistons because they drew you into their thuggery. Otherwise, they distributed the ball and played pretty basketball.

Exactly. The entire NBA was rough to a certain extent, but the Pistons were called the "Bad Boys" for a reason.

Jordan called Bird one of the top three dirtiest players in the NBA. I do not understand why.

There's a difference between dirty and thuggery. John Stockton was dirty, but you would never see him literally throw someone to the ground and try to injure guys like Rick Mahorn would.
