For hard-nosed old school running backs look no further than Macclenny and Baker County's own Larry Dupree. Was a Gator great for his day and time. Ray Graves certainly appreciated him.

I was at UF from 82-86 and got the privilege of seeing Neal Anderson, JLW, Lo Hampton and James Massey run the ball... Neal was definitely a smooth dude on the field, especially on the astroturf in the open field.
And to watch JJ with that one handed catch against the convicts cemented him as one of the best to me.

Top three for me:
1. Rhett
2. Taylor
3. Anderson

Always thought Rhett and Taylor were the two hard nosed backs that got the tough yards pounding the rock. Emmett just made people miss. Neil had John L and one hell of a line? I think

Florida has had a lot of really good backs through the decades

Wish I could give more likes. He had one of the most memorable Fl-ga games in history. First Gator back to be All SEC three years in a row.

Don't think I've ever seen a back with Emmett's vision.

Forgot about the textbooks, remember the credit cards... want to say there was something with a scooter as well.. but then again we had so many issues with scooters, i might just be lumping him in there as well.

Im drawing a blank on that one.

I remember one football player tossing someone in a lake for trying to steal his bike I thought. But maybe it was a scooter. Pretty sure that was Jabar.

I thought we had a player straight up rob a fellow student of his scooter while he was sitting on it. Gaffney is the guy that came to mind as the perp.

I believe that was Gaffney... It seems from our first Sugar Bowl vs Notre Dame and the DT (beleive he was a DT) getting hit on a Scooter, till Driskel on the scooter, seems we have had a number of scooter issues.

There's only one RB in the ROH. That's not a mistake. This list should be who's # 2- 10.

I'd give Anderson a slight edge over Rhett for #2.

The donkey was right, Gaffney chased a kid who stole his scooter into a retention pond and damn near drowned him before UPD got there. His bigger fu<k up was breaking into the lockers and stealing money during a state championship game in the swamp.

:scratchhead: Wasn't it James Jones with the one-handed catch on the goaline on the last play of the game?

My third senior year was the 87 season and Emmitt's freshman year and he was super smooth. Number one for sure. i was a big Neal fan, but I have to say Rhett is #2, then Neal. Neal over the top at the 84 cocktail party is a highlight everyone should watch. Made it into SI. Lorenzo Hampton was the third RB on that 84 team that was also picked in the first round by the Fins. The 84 team had three 1st rd RB.

Can’t disagree with most of the names already thrown out on the top RB’s.

I’ll add that the most underrated RB in UF history is Ciatrick Fason. He had a huge season in 2004, rushed for almost 1300 yards, caught 35 balls, and 12 total TD’s. He had games of 210 yards rushing, 143 yards rushing, 139 v Georgia, 170 v Vandy, 105 v FSU, with several long runs throughout the year. For his career he averaged 6 yards per carry on 315 attempts. He also played during a traumatic transition time; the 3 years after Spurrier left.

When Emmitt gained 224 yards as a freshman against Alabama in a game in Tuscaloosa it was an unbelievable surprise.

Jack Hairston really looked old and unwell in this clip. RIP.
