It really is embarrassing that we have to pray for trash from other teams just to manage to field a team.

You realize a big part of our uptick in SoFla recruiting during the mid-90s was largely because of um’s sanctions. So we were landing people that had grown up cane fans and would’ve played there if miami wasn’t in trouble. Really, how is a transfer due to playing time, scheme/coach issues or other reasons any different?

Not to mention 2 of the 4 teams in the playoff last year technically had another team’s “trash”.

Ok, if we were getting good trash, maybe Id be happier about it. You know #1 QBs lined up behind several other number one quarterbacks who just couldn't get playing time.... as opposed to running back or wide receiver who couldn't get on the field despite a weak roster in front of them.

That battle for Lingard sure was fierce.

So no response to the first part of my post?

Then again, I forgot how many beastly programs we fought off for guys like Doering, McGriff, Terry Jackson, etc.

I wish we did have a staff who could capitalize on historically bad programs at Clowntown, scUM and Tinerc. But alas, we hired Mullinz instead.

Oh no argument there. I still have a pic somewhere of Meyer in a car looking at Coker and Bowden in the rear view. We could’ve been capitalizing the same way they did in the 80s or recently when were we’re taking UF football back to the stone ages. We’re missing a window, at least in my opinion. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to dismiss the positives or rip a kid for coming back to where he would’ve signed originally if our coach at the time wasn’t busy eating gas station hotdogs and going on Busch Light benders during Shark Week.

Bottom line, these kids could’ve gone elsewhere. I don’t like the front end recruiting, but I’ll give them some credit for what we’ve landed in the secondary market.

Well, Lingard has had quite a bit of hard knocks. He hasn't had a chance to be a seasoned RB with the teammates needed, with the scheme needed. Right now, our stable of RBs are too easily corralled. Breakout athletes = Copeland, Pierce, Lingard to go with the better-respected athletes we have. Surely this was Trask's most expectant off-season ... how has he prepared?
