I think it means that once phase 1 is near completion you plan for phase 2, since at this point it’s uncertain exactly how long phase 1 will last. As any reasonable person would do.
Sorry but that's not how construction works, if it was nothing would ever get built.

If they’re breaking ground, it’s being funded. Seems more like a poor tweet than anything. I take that to mean that contracts have been signed for all the horizontal work (minus paving and landscaping) with vertical in progress. The TBD likely refers to timeline of the next phase, not whether it will actually start. It’s incredibly stupid to stop construction midway through.

I'm not sure what the UAA has done to make you guys so optimistic but if its ok I'm going to take it for just what it says. "funds in place for early site phase, next phase TBD"

So in 4 months, we'll have a cleared site, a cement slab and yet another fundraising goal. So exciting!

The utilities mentioned is not a temp pole. A facility of this size requires extensive underground infrastructure for water, electric, communications, wastewater and storm drainage. At that point the design and planning has been completed and implementation is underway.

Yes it may be possible that the pandemic and riot shutdowns could have altered the projected cash-flow of donors and more fundraising is required. I have no specific knowledge of the project or timeline but I do know how large projects progress, slowdown and/or stall. Assuming that you know the end from the beginning and everything in between is inappropriate unless you do in fact know for certain. Also, the emotional collapse and childish tantrum does not reflect well on the Gator Nation fanbase. Please calm down or at least investigate and discover some facts before soiling your panties.

The temp pole comment was a bad attempt at swonkcasm but trust me I know how construction works because I've been in it my whole life in fact I knew where your new baseball stadium would be located before you or Sully did and posted it on chatter days before it was announced. I also know that a new student infirmary will share the baseball grounds with the stand alone but was assured it would be built after the completion of the stand alone, now I'm not so sure. Finally, I started a thread years ago about the half mile walk our players make before and after every practice and how some of today's elite kids it might be a deal breaker. What did I get for my concern for our program, guys like you saying, if Foley "the best AD in the country" thought we needed it, we would have it. Or my favorite at the time "fvk the spoiled little brats if they can't do it like all our championship teams did it".

I'm tired of excuses and delays and if you don't think Strickland sending out his media minion to sound the alarm about needing more time and money then you haven't been following this as closely as some of us have.

Again, I read that more from a contractual, not budgeting, perspective. Mob/demob can be costly, so is leaving rentals on site for work that is not progressing (fencing, storm water measures, job site trailer, etc). Plus, storm water permits require staff on site to monitor the measures, rainfall totals, erosion, etc. Those are all costs that no one wants to pay if work is not proceeding and they can not be removed, for the most part, until the permitted design is complete. I did construction in Florida for a while and I can assure you, once this starts it will not stop.

P.S. “Phase” is generally not used in construction if there is no “beneficial occupancy” or “substantial completion”. Basically, the facility or parts of the overall project have to be “usable” To be considered a “phase”. A slab with utilities installed is not “usable”. Again, I question Mr. Thompson understanding of the process.

We’ve spent $150M on baseball, softball and basketball in the last 5+ years, and still we get a TBD on when we will start building something/anything for football. Sad, just sad..........

Because ~ UF is a University with student athletes rather than a professional sports franchise. It's not that difficult to understand.

We built that in 2015 for $17M. Since then we’ve dropped $150M on basketball, softball and baseball and now still can’t commit to completing what’s needed for football. We just get another TBD. Absurd.

Fair enough. The bottom line is that the University will build whatever they have the money to build based on the priorities they establish. Like it or not, that is where we are. So, if you want to change it, pull out your checkbook and set the conditions.

Professional sports franchise? Nobody is suggesting we spend like the NFL. The Rams just built a $5 Billion stadium. We’re just trying to find $65 million for the sport that funds the entire UAA. Didn’t seem to have any difficulty spending that same amount on basketball and baseball, but somehow we’re always broke when it come to football.

No one needs more fvkking money. We are and have always been a top $$$$ school.

The problem isn't money. the problem has never been the money.

The problem is the azzholes we gave the checkbook.
