Well I'll be a monkey's uncle, you're actually right. Only once did we crack 30 points against SEC team (and that was in the SEC championship).
In Mullen's defense, there were very few high octane offenses at the time, and defenses didn't play soft. A 21-14 win under Meyer/Mullen looks a lot better than a 21-14 win under Chump/Shark.
memory issues? I mean I'm old and I remember this stuff clearly. They were seriously looking at passing us over the national championship game because of our God awful offense. Not sure how it would have gone if Gary Danielson hadn't gone full bore at advocating for us. ESPN clearly wanted Michigan.

Mullinz was one of the most hated coordinators in Gator history, probably second to Zook. Not sure why Fooley thinks we should keep hiring these tools.

Remember Mullinz wife saying she could not shop in Gainesville because people wanted to know why her husband couldn't score more than 21 points? it's because people hated Mullins because he couldn't score more than 21 points.... even with a bunch of five-star offensive players hitting led the league in offense two years prior under freakin Zook and Fedora.

The inability to look at things and remember things objectively is why you guys get surprised at the performances of guys like Sharky and Cousin Eddie though they have clear resumes of being mediocre at best.
see this is why you guys are surprised when

2006 Team Offense | College Football at Sports-Reference.com

23rd in PPG - 29.7
28th passing - 236.1
38th rushing - 160
19th total offense - 396.1

Not the epic disaster you portray Mullen to be. Nowadays, I'd be more than happy to be in the Top 25 in all those categories (given of course we compete for SEC/Natl champs).

PS - I have too much time at work to look up this info.

Leak and Tebow getting snaps was a funky dynamic. Mullen could've done better, but at the end of the day we scored more points than the other teams and won a national championship, so let's be happy.
Now we got Trask and EJ. Mullen has to keep defenses honest by running the option with Trask (maybe once a quarter) and passing with EJ. I think Trask's running ability is underrated. I'm sure Donk agrees.

Sorry, silly. Mullinz running plays ARE options. Period. (Well... 90% at least). He hasnt adjusted (since Leak and Latsko) and isnt going to.

The defense determines when Trash keeps.

UF 21 Voles 20
UF 26 Kintucky 7
UF 28 Trailerbammer 13
UF 23 Corndwags 10
UF 17 WardamnChump 27 (Chumps didn't score an offensive touchdown but still beat us... and a Chump Fooley Manlovefest is born)
UF 21 Dwags 14
UF 25 Smartvoles 19
UF 17 Cawks 16

And most of the time the defense or special teams scored or set up one or more of those touchdowns. trying to score if we did not get a short field was basically hopeless.

We were probably the most talented offensive team in the country that year. they were number one in the SEC prior to Dumbass Eddie arriving and trying to change us into Notre Dame. the problem was defense and special teams part of that mostly inder Zookie.

In 2006, we had a dominant defense and probably the best special teams ever.

the only thing that kept that team from being considered one of the best ever is the dumbass square peg round hole OC.

This guy is always been fckking idiot when it came to anything but the quarterback running power.

That is why I'm only talking about those 05/06 seasons. When Mullen has his type of quarterback who is elite, the offense rolls of did in the mid - late 00's. The question, Dak ran the offense well, but the lack of talent around him did hurt. The question now, not only recruiting but have defenses caught up. There are no Harvins walking through that door, and regardless of how you feel about the dude which on the field he was arguably the most special dude on the field of those Gator teams. Those teams especially the 08 team was so loaded on Defense/Special Teams how many times did the offense get the ball in plus field position.
OL talent was a lot better than anything we will see in the next two to three years. If we don’t start getting and developing better big uglies, any offensive progression will be capped.

More games are won and lost in the trenches then anywhere else.

So how much exactly would removing the southern miss cupcake from the calculation do to the scoring average? I'm guessing it would probably reduce 29.7 all the way to 29.3.

I see all wins there except one. I’m not saying Mullen produced an offensive juggernaut, but it definitely wasn’t a dud (based on the stats). Defense was more dominant than the offense, but the offense did enough to carry its weight.
Mullen was a great hire, and he’ll prove you wrong with a championship in 2021-2022.

So we can eliminate southern miss as a cupcake and your assertion that that team profited from all those cupcakes was what? Overblown? Wrong? A red herring? All of the above?

He'll deviate focus from that message and bring up the fact that of Drew Lock's 109 Touchdowns, 73 came against us.

*side note, how the hell did he actually manage 109 TDs?
I think you're mind is playing tricks with ya. It was driskel throwing all those TD's for Missouri
