We need to get students back to school. Not only to have sports, but also to keep them off the streets. After six months of nothing to do:, no jobs, no entertainment, no dating and no anything except social distancing, how can we expect anything else but street parties (i.e., protests). Unfortunately, our kids don't have the experience to understand they're being played like a drum by the politicized groups. The country need to open up as the entire SEC schools are.

As for people filling the stadiums, why not? If we keep the fans away, the enthusiasm for each school's rivalries will surely take a hit. Moreover, sportsmanship, school pride and social renewal will take a back seat to those self appointed health experts who lecture us about the merits of inactivity.

I probably shouldn't say this, but we are told that there will be 200,000 people die with CV-19 by October at the current rate. I am not a health expert but that death rate is for 10 months, and it is far less than the normal US death rate for a single month without the disease. I hate to see useless deaths, but I believe we have done our job to flatten the curve as we we asked to do. Frankly, I am losing trust in our health experts because they are constantly moving the bar. Do they really have a clue and what does it mean to die "with" not "from" CV-19?

I am in my mid-70s and can't wait to enjoy football and BHG again. It will be great for our state and give our kids something constructive to do when not attending classes. It is certainly better than seeing them in the streets enabling the activists.

@RossDellenger: It's official. As we reported this morning, the NCAA has indeed adjusted the language in its postseason hosting policy. Basically, as long as the flag remains as is, Mississippi schools are barred from hosting postseason NCAA championship events, including baseball regionals.

Mods, if this thread belongs in the politics forum, pls move it or if it is just repetition, pls delete it. I apologize if I'm just re-hashing what's already been discussed ad nauseum here (I only rarely check in on sports or other threads). But, UF is bringing players back, apparently, with no positive cases and the NCAA has revised practice for the summer leading up to football season. But, the virus is still out there with Florida currently experiencing a spike in cases. Clemson hasn't been as lucky with their players as UF. While younger people can get through the virus much better than older people, all these football players interact with other people, who in turn, interact with other people, and on and on. How do you play football and not swap sweat, snot, and exhalation with other players? Here's the article on Clemson: Clemson athletics’ 28 positive COVID-19 tests include many football players

You don't. We can't continue to live in a bubble. We have always lived in a soup surrounded by bacteria and viruses. People always get sick. Most of the time they recover without a problem. That's life. It's a little bit risky. We need our politicians and administration to grow a pair and let life continue unabated.

I’ve just lost faith that’s there’s gonna be a season at all, or it’ll end up being greatly reduced. If the expectation is to quarantine any player that’s positive ( and any he’s had contact with), hell wouldn’t the whole team have to quarantine? Could also see some teams not reporting certain star players as positive if their asymptotic. Or reporting them positive a few days after a big rivalry game. If a player is positive, does he have to sit out a mandatory 2 weeks since that’s how long they want you to quarantine for? Just seems to me that they’ll have to come out with a strict policy that all teams must follow or you’ll have the same teams cheating the system.
Seems too hard to keep the players in a bubble, they’ll still be getting around all the other kids on campus and going out and partying. The NFL may be able to pull off a season, but I’m still doubtful. I hope I’m wrong, but I’m not expecting much this fall, not that I was expecting anything like a championship season, still wanted to see a season in full though. I didn’t bother reading through the thread, so some of the points have probably already been stated. Go Gators!

Sucks. I like their new tradition of waving to the kids at the children’s hospital each game.
That tradition is history, buddy. Someone claimed the only put white kids on that side of the hospital to see the team wave at them.
Poof! It was gone.

Wow I guess any comment can be politicized these days!
Now try to politicize this statement - “one plus one equals two”
