Anybody been watching golf since they started back up? BD doesn't even look like the same person. I think they said he put on 50 lbs. He just average 350 yards off the tee on his way to winning in Detroit today. When you play a 480 yard hole with a driver and a sand wedge its really getting crazy. How long until they limit the shaft length and force everyone to play a limited flight golf ball?

I heard them say the ball came off his driver at 195 mph.

Those are incredible stats but nothing different than Rory, DJ or Koepka. I like DeChameau’s approach with his club.

Problem here is unless you are talking about Tiger, DiMarco or Horshel there won’t be much discussion. I’m shocked UF doesn’t have more PGA Golfers. Fuchs Foley.

I played with DiMarco a few years ago. No Schit. He was out for the (former) Reno-Tahoe Open, now known as The Barracuda. I was at ArrowCreek to play, as a Walk-On. At the Practice Range and he came out. Saw my Gator hat and we chatted. Played 9 before he bailed.

There’s no way he can sustain this size

You need to be pretty limber and flexible to swing a golf club as often as PGA’ers do.

Along with his affection for Waffle House waitresses, Tiger’s bulk, and resulting back pain, resulted in his downfall

Being a former golf course superintendent working 6 pga events and a few other senior tour events I don’t Think they will put a lot of restrictions on equipment. The spectators love to see guys hitting the ball that far. If I paid to go to an event I wouldn’t want to see a pro hitting it 250. I want to watch DJ hit it 350. I think the courses need to be lengthened to keep up with today’s game. Some places have the money and the space to add a tee box 50 yards back. Some don’t. That’s why you see places like Augusta and a number of other very well known courses “tiger proofing” the course.

I’m so fed up with all the nonsense going on with all the professional and college athletes that golf may be the only sport I continue to watch when everything else starts back up.

What he’s doing is unreal...around 365 driving distance this week. Hit a 7 iron around 220 I think I heard as well...or close to it. I think I’ve gotten my 7 to about 170-175 tops

Maybe 15 or 20 years ago I was at a wedding and met a guy who was involved in designing a new golf course somewhere in the midwest. Anyway he had his plans with him and was showing them to us, etc. The gist I took from it was that they had the ability to lengthen the course based on the number of tee boxes they were building to have a course play over 8000 yards. I was thinking no way. Well as he said guys are just going to hit the ball farther and farther. Well fast forward and I guess he was right.

Why does he need to sustain it? NFL players get as big, strong, and fast as they can so they can win while they are in their prime. They aren't worried about 10 years from now.

He hit an 8 iron out of the rough 230 yards with his second shot on a par 5 yesterday. About 15 feet from the pin.

He doesn’t, and I see nothing wrong with a short and VERY lucrative cash grab.

Id do it too if I didn’t hook almost every iron and miss every putt outside of 5 feet. However, his success probably won’t be long term, which is his right

That games too expensive for the average person to perform anything better than mediocre. If I can leave with double digits, I’m happy. If I’m sub 90, I’m ecstatic.

it was a different viewing experience without all the spectators and the cheers for the good shots, seems like it threw a couple guys for a loop every now and then.

is the prize money effected without ticket revenue?

I'm right there with you. Golf and Tennis is all I really care for anymore. Of course college football & UF but that is a really big if right now.

And to be honest, if they end up cancelling the whole football season I will be just fine with golf. Especially with The Masters being in November(I think) this year, it will replace end of season football as far as interest goes.
