20200802_191524.jpg So I took a head of cabbage and dug out the core, nearly all the way through. Then I stuffed, in layers, a 1/4 stick of butter, diced purple onions, garlic powder, Lawry's seasoned salt back to the top of the cutout. Then layered the cabbage with a whole package of Maple bacon. Smoked on grill @ 250° for 2.5 hrs. Then turned up the heat and added pork chops.

Costco had a sale on filet mignon for $9.99/lb this week. Cooked them on the Blackstone. The beans, potatoes, squash and zucchini are fresh from the garden.

If you can hold off till thanksgiving they’ll knock 75 to 100 off. I had to work black Friday and couldn’t get one last year. My wife found one in dunnelon at tractor supply and pulled a Karen on them saying she called yesterday and the manager who she forgot the name of said they’d give her the Black Friday deal. Might find some on fb marketplace, be ware of older models that have two round burners if you’re going for a 22” or whatever size it is. they burned hot and not evenly and basically make two little bowls in the cooking surface.
Bought a 36” this evening. Have to put it together but excited to try it out.

Fantastic! Can't wait to hear what you cook on it. It's so much fun, especially stir fry although we haven't done the volcano onion yet. There are lots of videos about properly seasoning it but a pound of bacon should do nicely, plus you get to eat the bacon!

I’m not a big stir fry kind of guy. Don’t like Chinese. I’m more of a sushi, sushimi kind of guy. Looking forward to breakfast & smash burgers.

This year I planted black beans. Maybe the name has changed now so please let me know what I should call them. Wouldn’t want @BNA to ban me over BLM. (Bean Lives Matter)
You could just say “frijoles negros.” Oh wait, that might be problematic too.

Do you have a good set of spatulas?
We got this set on amazon. It wasn't expensive and they work well. Definitely get a good scraper but don't take the seasoning off the grill. I'm sure you know all that though! Enjoy!

What kind of rub do you use?
I make my own rub. Super simple and make enough to store in a large shaker to us multiple times.

1 part coarse pepper
1/2 part coarse salt
1/4 part onion powder
1/4 part garlic powder
1/4 part chilli powder
1/4 part smoked paprika

If you did all that at the variable of 1 cup, you’d have a nice pork rub for multiple things including chops.

Mrs G hit a home run tonight with boneless chick thighs with plums in a curry and crystallized ginger sauce accompanied by saffron rice with spinach. She is by far her harshest critic and even she had to admit it was really good.
