There will evidently be a focus to keep politics out of it. Sounds smart.

Discuss.

If they can keep politics out of it.... this might have a shot this time. I think Americans are thirsty for some raw sports with no outside agenda being shoved in your face.

For only $15 Million it is worth the money, if you set it up with a managable salary cap, you focus on the talent that were not good enough for the 53 man roster of the NFL there is a market. The problems with USFL all started stemming from ownership that didn't want to stay within the league parameters to build a secondary league with basic salary cap, it could work out and be a great investment.

The group that bought it is loaded (I'm curious how much Johnson actually put in - but it's good to get his name on it). I hope it succeeds, there's a big need for a minor league system. I went to a game last year and had a blast (got hammered!). It was a great atmosphere and I was planning to go to another game, but then.....the China virus happened.

He and Kevin Hart should be the commentators for premier games each week. That'll guarantee big ratings.

The XFL unlike the other league that was being start, was actually in the black (not by much).. honestly wonder if the virus hadn't killed the season how well it would have done long term.

I still hope it fails. If it succeeds, it could kill colllege ball.

If you are Johnny 5-star, would you rather deal with the NCAA, studying, living in dorms, or would you rather go to XFL, and get $200k/year without all the nonsense.

No brainer.

When CFB resumes, it is going to be interesting to see how much of the current political climate is going to be visible. From the players, to the NCAA, to the schools, to the conferences. I have a bad feeling it's not going to be much different than the pros.

if being in the black is a good thing then how can that be racist?

of course being in the red is a bad thing. someone call E Warren and get her Tribe's opinion.

So now there's got to be a reason for something to be racist?

I like the XFL idea. It has all the right intangibles to be a stop gap league like triple A B/ball. There's plenty of room in Football for another league especially if it is not in direct competition with the NFL. It's kinda like the pro JV version and there are PLENTY of players that have the talent to compete but for one reason or another aren't being sought at the pro level!! The XFL has the right bones to ad itself to collage and pro football if they can just get there roots in the ground and have a chance to build and make a triple A Football league.
As all of us on here and any other football anything anywhere EVERYBODY ALWAYS wants more Football.. CHOMP CHOMP

If they pay $200K/year it will certainly fail. Salaries will have to be kept to a minimum, like $2000-$4000/week max (so they'd make around $24k-$60k depending on how long the season is, playoffs, pre-season, etc) for this to work. It wouldn't be a league (like the CFL) where a player could last more than 2 seasons (for it to succeed). Unless they land some lucrative TV deal they certainly won't pay big salaries from gate receipts.

college kids get the equivalent of about 100K a year.

that being said I'd love to see some of these illiterate people not pretending to be college students.

I think there are alot of players who would take the money they offer to keep playing ball. Some will still strive to be in the NFL and not just fade into life. And some will be always almost players that can make a good living in a trip/A
league. I still think it could work and has a place.

I think that is part of the question, what was included in the purchase. XFL had some TV deals and other things in place, was that or a right of first refusal in the deal?

Surely this is the football league with failed NFL players that will work. It's different this time because a different wrestling guy owns it!
