....that there are people who still fall for these Craigs List scams. Vehicles worth $7500 or more
being offered for sale at a fraction of their value. Yet people stand in line in order to be
conned out of their money. Check out the following example:
Another one making the rounds is someone selling a local vehicle worth
$5000 for only $1250. You e-mail them and find out the vehicle is in Oregon
or Washington. You hear about what a cream puff it is, how much they
hate to part with it, but they are on deaths door step or in the army and
are about to be shipped out to Tim-Buk-Tu and don't want to store it.
But wait! They have a friend, relative, or guardian angel who just happens
to work for some shipping company that will be delighted to ship the vehicle
to you, free of charge of course.
They claim that the deal will be run through E-bay services just so everything is on the up-and-up.
But you need to run down to Wal Mart and buy a bunch of I-tune or E-Bay gift cards and read off the numbers on the back to them. (Wait! what happened to the E-bay Motors thing?) But not to worry: You have 5 days to go over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb. Feel free to slide underneath, crawl through the trunk, dive in under the hood, sniff the seats.
If there is anything, I mean ANYTHING that if you don't like, there will be no deal! If you don't like the air in the tires, the size of the wheels, the color of the knobs on the dash board, just feel free the ship the thing back
to them, again of course, at absolutely no cost to you.
Then, and only then will your gift cards will be cashed. You see, that way you are both protected.

The following is a perfect example of scam artists at work:
Like new 2009 Lexus IS250 clean history - $1890 :
2009 Lexus IS250 available for sale from August 6, 2020. Buyers are welcome to check and verify from July 16. The total mileage is less than 89000. Car is like new. Fuel consumption is very low and gives high mileage. 89k miles,new tires,back up camera, gas saver,everything works perfect. Right rear, Door had damage it is been repaired Florida title in hand. Front wheel drive, excellent condition, cold AC, private owner, serviced at Toyota at the Avenues, new dash installed in 2019, AUX cord, 6 disc cd changer, power windows and locks with automatic transmission Only 89k miles. Maintenance records from day 1. Ace cold A/C, looks and drives GREAT.
So I E-Mail them and find out the thing is in Tacoma, Washington (a far cry from being local)
"Buyers are welcome to check and verify....." Right! Just hop on a plane!
"Florida title in hand." Sure. Just ask for the VIN and try running the number.

During that five days testing period, I will not be getting any money.
