This is great news!
WR isn’t the most important position in this offense. Because A.) We spread the ball around pretty good and B.) I think we have some nice, young talent at WR.
But it’s nice to have proven commodities coming back. It makes the unknowns less risky. Now you hope the new guys are good, but you don’t necessarily need them.

We weren't really running Mullen's offense with Trask at QB though--it was far more pass-heavy than what Mullen usually did at Miss State or with Franks.

Definitely agree that Mullen's offense isn't usually like that, but with Trask at QB and a mediocre run-blocking OL, having experienced and proven WRs will make a big difference for what we want to do next year.

Proven at what?

Grimes is the "producer" out of the bunch and he's good for....... wait for it...... 35 yards a game

I’d consider Toney a proven commodity. And Copeland has at least saw game action. We have almost zero on field production outside of the top 3 or 4 receivers.
I’m not arguing that they’re All World players. But at least you know what you’re getting.

touching the ball two or three times a game and losing yardage about 50% of the time because he's running backwards?

this whole thing is a weird quote.

first, NO ONE has production outside of the top three or four receivers. Spurrier didn't. Hell Mullinz doesnt even have production in his top three or four, that's why his receivers don't break the top 100 usually.

Second, "at least we know what we're getting" I know what we're getting and what we're getting is basically nothing. Dudes with pulses. dudes with more hype than production.

And apparently we are getting guys that aren't dedicated to the team. This is the concern because winning teams are families. This team has big chemistry problems, only one of these visible problems is a Butters player.
