I've never been to sprouts and only to whole foods under duress. But I read that since the Amazon acquisition, sprouts is slightly more expensive. That might be BS. I don't go to either. Publix is it for me. Even though their meat department is crap.

Good thing you don’t eat meat anymore. Where do you get your cardboard for fiber?

Peas and tomatoes give me almost but not quite enough. Woopie what a great way to live. I'll have to try cardboard. It might be more fun.

put in to get today off way back in February in anticipation for today. Decided to keep the day off and make a day of it. My big boss made a brisket a few months back when he got his rectec and gave me a couple pounds. Put it in the freezer and took it out today for chili with some neighbors. Meat wasnt as smoky as I’m used to so it spent an hour or so indirect with cherry and pecan getting stirred every 15 min or so.

That's an amazing looking chili but I've never seen one like it before. Looks more like a stew.

Local farmers and butchers are the best places for meat. Whole Foods is second as they generally use local farmers. Sprouts is up there as well Costco is good, but part of high processing plants. Kroger, Wal-Mart, Safeway... bottom of the barrel.

The biggest issue is distribution. Road Side, Farmer's Markets, your Back Yard...ALWAYS better because much of the food supply has to be picked early and/or is selected for machine harvesting and looks...not flavor.

Most industrial crops are also genetically selected for insect and fungi resistance...again not always the best tasting.

This does not influence Meat and Poultry as much unless you want "Grass Fed". Farm raised seafood can have a milder flavor and generally a "mushier texture" (Salmon for example)

IMG_0693.jpg Red snapper over a bed of rice and green beans.
First go at it myself, as I usually only get from restaurants.
Not too bad. Next time I'll work a better lemon butter glaze.
Using real lemons instead of lemon juice makes a difference here.

Nice.

And again with the pristine pavers. Mine are so covered with algae they’re dangerous to walk on. Quite jealous.

Hint: Try "Wet and Forget" if it works here it will work anywhere
