You are what you recruit. They recruit in the 50's so they're a 50ish team. Why is this even a discussion?
They recruit the best in their conference so they beat the teams in their conference. When they play a P5 team they give them a good game for 3.5 quarters until adrenaline wears off and depth becomes a factor.
Not entirely true. For what they recruit they should be a top 50 team they are better than that. They outplay many power 5 teams and recruit way worse. I think the problem many have with them is they are overconfident and claim championships which is absurd.

Exactly good take

You are what you talent is. Their talent level is Vandy-ish in a good year. If they played 10 top 25 teams in a year they'd lose 9.

Everyone always gets nervous before the first game. P5 game anyways. But let’s take a chill pill. UCF isn’t a real threat. Every so often we get one of these stories. I remember USF was hot a few years back and beat FSU and everyone was saying the same things then. These directional schools aren’t EVER gonna compete with the big boys on a consistent level. They don’t recruit well enough or consistent enough to really compete. Can they beat UF in a one-off? Of course. But we beat them 9 out of 10 times. They would essentially be a Kentucky level program in the SEC.

no they are not. they're just good for one game. last year they weren't even good enough for Conference USA part 2.

not really. hell we are a Kentucky level program. we're lucky as hell but they're not on a four-game winning streak.
That’s true. I think we WERE a Kentucky level program. We seem to be rising slightly, but I’ll hold off judgement until we actually beat them. And I mean really beat them. Not this getting lucky crap.

The B12 should have grown some balls and added UCF when they added WVU. It would have come w/ geographical issues, like WVU does, but it would have also put them in the state of Florida. They have Baylor in their conference, for crying out loud.

I agree w/ Law that they'd be below UK - as it stands. But if they moved to a P5 conference their recruiting would improve and it would push them into a top 40 type program. Otherwise, if they played a P5 schedule (8 to 9 games/year) they're a 5-7 to 8-4 (at best) type program.

Last time we beat Kentucky like sofla beats his meat to ladies feet, Del Taco was our quarterback.... think about that.

And if my Aunt had nuts she'd be my Uncle. They are what they recruit. According to 247 roster composite that's 61st (Vandy, the closest SEC team, is 54th). Joining a P5 conference wouldn't miraculously give them a big jump in recruiting. In fact , you could argue, recruiting just became harder because now you're up against the big boys.

The point is moot. UCF won't be invited to a P5 conference anytime soon. They will continue to recruit 60ish. They will continue to beat the sub 60ish teams in their conference. And they will continue to whine like SJWs that they deserve to be respected.

Nah UCF would have been a terrible add for the Big 12. The Big 12 had the opportunity to add Cinci and Louisville when they lost Nebraska, Mizzou, A&M, and Colorado.

Add those two then pick up West Virginia which now leaves you with one team to fill the void and you could take your pick from BYU or Houston. BYU is a little out there for travel but Texas doesn't want Houston. So it just comes down to which one most of the teams would agree on.

BYU is not a power 5 team.. .They are so much drama with their non conference thing which is crazy considering they should of never left their conference... They kept thinking they were better than their conference. Now they sit alone waiting and waiting like some Power 5 is finally going to add them... Nope they need to go to beg their way back to the Mountain west or whatever they were in....

This x 1000000000

They'd get a lot more respect if they weren't so incredibly annoying and delusional. Their fans are awful in that regard but it even rubs off on their players. Their QB claimed just a week or two ago to be the best program in Florida

yep, people on here give them no credit because of their cockiness.. Honestly I wouldn't want to play them because they have all year to get ready for us and we have so many more games to play. Gators are the better team though.

IMO, they're making a mistake by insisting on home and homes to play a P5 team. To me, if you want to convince folks you belong with the big boys, be willing to play anyone, anywhere. Anything less makes you suspect.
