don't you remember how horrendous is passing was? I thought he was the next Bobby Sabelhaus. Mullen had him so fvkked up he couldn't hit a crossing route or a screen pass and everyone was talking tight end.

Honestly, the only thing I remember about him here at UF was that he transferred, and the rumors about the laptop, then the rumors about his dad getting paid for him to play at AU. I typically forget about ex-Gators once they transfer out, but those things stuck in my mind for some reason. Probably because he had so much success "after" UF.

All he did was win the Heisman, the NC, and become the first overall pick in the draft. Other than that he was a complete failure.
Yeah, but it was "after" UF, so I really didn't care.

Driskel fell to 1-8 as a starter. He hit Tim Patrick for a 7-yard score just before halftime but he was benched in the fourth quarter for Brett Rypien, who was called up from the practice squad Saturday.

Even ESPN notices his record.

Nevertheless it is a nice salary forna far below average college QB. Atleast until they cur him. NFL comtracts are not guaranteed.

The slam on Mullen over Cam leaving is long on revisionist thinking. Tebow was a dominant figure. There was no way way Newton, however gifted he was, was going to start over him. Surely not in 2008, his sophomore and final season on campus.

A few months after his arrest in November 2008 over the laptop incident, Newton transferred to Blinn. Mullen was already gone to Mississippi State.

I do recall watching him in the ‘08 O&B Game. He was unstoppable on the ground, very raw through the air. The Florida coaching staff would have had to have been blind to not see the potential.

If anything, he left because Mullen was no longer around, not the other way around. I’m sure Tebow’s decision to return for his senior season had something to do with it, too. But to blame it on Mullen is simply not accurate.

Well.....and that whole academic cheating scandal nuisance was going to get in the way too.

Sure did. But I’m pretty sure he was unwilling to wait for Tebow to move on to the NFL. Or maybe I should say his father was unwilling. Either way, he wanted to play now.

It was frustrating watching Driskel yesterday. He would make a couple of good throws and then take a bad sack. Rinse and repeat. You can attribute a lot to Denver's porous line but a quality QB has to hit the hot route or make someone miss once in awhile.

I took a Russian lit class with some nut for a professor in the 80’s. Half the football team took this class. They all got A’s and they all blatantly cheated. So not a new concept and Newton certainly didn’t invent the concept.

I would say probably Matthews, because of the length of his career in the NFL. Reeves ended up in the USFL (if I remember correctly) after a brief stint in the NFL. Bell bounced from World League, NFL, and Canadian Football. Spurrier didn't last long at either NFL stop (49ers and Bucs). Timmy didn't make it to his second contract. Wuerfell hung around but wasn't a first round pick. So Grossman and Matthews would be the front runners. Both made a second contract, but Matthews hung around longer.

Spurrier backed up Brodie for 10 damn years....wtf?

Rex made $15 million (I figured it would be more, but I guess he played in an era where starting QBs didn't make $25 million+). This article said he started a nursing company:

Rex Grossman retired with over $15 million in career earnings. Over $10 million of that came from his six seasons in Chicago.

During Grossman’s playing days, he and his wife, Alison, founded Florida Medical Staffing in 2009.

Located in Delray Beach, Fla., the company “specializes in providing skilled temporary and permanent staff to the medical community, including hospitals, skilled-care facilities and other medical providers,” according to its website.

Those were always crucial ways to help those in the medical field. During the coronavirus pandemic, Florida Medical Staffing’s role is even more important.
Building his own rehab center. Solid move, for him
