If this comes to fruition, this would be the very definition of "Florida recruits itself".

I've said before, while I wasn't initially a fan of the the portal, the three Fl schools are probably going to gain the most from it. Whether it's a player wanting to go somewhere different/warmer and a better program(Shorter, Grenard, King), or wanting to come back to their home state, it bodes well for whoever is trending at the time.

Part of me thinks this just keeps bailing out bad recruiting by certain ones(ahem, Knox). But there are plenty of other options for this kid as well. So if he chose to come here, it also means we did something right when initially recruiting him. At a minimum, we didn't completely botch it the first go around. We just didn't close.

If he wants to be close to his family, the only options are us and Miami I'd imagine.

Also if he transfers now does that mean he plays 2021?

With the way they are treating eligibility this year, I believe it does.
Why? you have to sit out a year after you transfer.

this year does not count against his eligibility but it doesn't magically become 2021 or whatever you're implying.

he's eligible in 2022 without a waiver.

NCAA already said they are treating the 2020 season differently. It's basically a lost season in eligibility terms.

@theebigbossSS: I saw someone tag Norvell about Bowman’s transfer. Why would any human want to go play for that comedy **** show right now?

what does that have to do with sitting out?

he will be a freshman, a true freshman again, because this season doesn't count. but next year when he has to sit out he is still a true freshman, and could be a red shirt freshman in 2022.

but saying this year doesn't count against eligibility doesn't mean you don't have to sit out if you transfer. now I'm sure he can come up with family reasons for needing to be home and hopefully win his appeal.

maybe ERRRBODY DYING FROM WUHAN SO I GOT TO BE HOME WITH MAMA is good enough of an excuse to get a waiver. actually I'm pretty sure that any excuse is good enough if you threaten to sue them and they think you mean it.

basically everyone is red shirt this year due to the virus, and going by what NCAA released he will be granted immediate eligibility. Now that's not to say the NCAA will not try to turn it around later, because they are the NCAA.
