I agree. But I also know that some Bullgators (Stumpy Harris) were still singing Mullen's praises in 2014 while in mid-2017 before "death threats" they were telling Tony Barnhart that Mac needed to go. I have heard Tony talk about that in person. It's not a matter necessarily if boosters, but which boosters whether we like it or not.

McElwain hurt himself with the people in the building and the boosters over a year before hand the "death threats". Everyone knew that McElwain was gone after the Tennessee game even after the win.

Mike White's Elite 8 run in his second year is better than anything Mullinz has done so far. Not arguing that Mike White doesn't suck, just pointing out Dan hasn't done Dick.

This is true, White gettting to the Elite 8 gave him some leeway on the leash, the season being cancelled last year also bought him a year or two as well.

I think Mullen is a little more like Chump than Butters. Mullen I think wants to win, he just can’t recruit for fuch all, and can’t seem to get his hired right. This is it for him though, and surely he knows it. He has to fix the defensive recruiting by shytcanning Grantham and fix the defensive play on the field by making a great hire. The end of this season is now or never, regardless how it turns out.

I wasn’t sold on him when we hired him, but I’ve grown to like him the last couple years as an X’s and O’s coach . He does seem to Richt a lot in big games, and drop one or two a year we have no business losing(Mizzou and Kentucky in 18, tAMu this year), which is also pretty Richt like. I do think he genuinely wants to succeed, like Chump. I just hope he recognizes that his goose is cooked if he hangs on to Dwag Choker.

His goose is cooked if he keeps losing to UGA also. I'm just hoping he doesn't get the occasional win, like Richt did (or like Malzahn does vs. Alabama) that appeases the AD's office and lets him stick around longer. If he gets the Defense fixed, brings in another recruiter or two, and he may have a chance. Sooner or later Saban won't be at Alabama and we'll finally have a stand alone....so the excuse machine will run dry.

Here's the issue w/ Mullen: chicken & egg discussion, what comes first? Does he need to fire Grantham first? Does he need to beat UGA? Does the stand alone need to be built? What's the AD's office going to do after the 2021 season when Grantham is still here and Mullen just lost to UGA again? "Oh, now we have the stand alone built so we'll be able to recruit with Georgia now!"

Mullinz will survive the third loss to UGA this year, but his seat will be nuclear. You've already seen how the room temperature has changed as some people finally realize how badly the roster has been fuchsed up.

He won't survive the fourth.

He wants to succeed like Chump, but he manages like Butters. Chump at least tried to fix the problems in his staff, but obviously still doesn't get he is the reason. Butters held on to bad assistants just blaming the other factors. Mullen is starting with the blaming of other factors, but he will survive this year. But if the same problems have existed for three years, and no fix has been found... is he really looking to fix it?

he will get next year, because of Stricklin and the administration... just like Foley used injuries for Muschamp to stay, Stricklin will use Covid and the odd season.

no competent head coach would have the following on the staff:

Knox
English
Christian Robinson
Grantham

I had my AC repaired this morning, the repair guy sees my Gator hat and asks me if I watched the most recent Gator Nation Football podcast. Nope, Google that one

Wow that was brutal, I don’t think he likes the scheme...

White needs to have a similar run this year I would think to quiet the noise in the system. Mullen needs to beat the Dwags. Past experience says both will fail, but for now there's still hope.

There's a story on SDS saying Kiffin is moving 3 offensive players over to the Defense. One of them is WR Marc Britt (who chose Ole Miss over UF). Basically, he's doing anything he can to fix that broken defense. Meanwhile, we have 8 bucks starting on defense.

I saw that breakdown earlier in the week. It's more than just scheme - it's sh*tty coaching, confused players, lack of talent, players playing the wrong position, no depth, etc. The entire thing is one gigantic cluster f*ck!

Other than Elam, Hill, Kimbrough, and Torrance, the entire secondary has been in this system for going on 3 seasons: Stiner, Wilson, Davis, Stewart, Dean, McWilliams. They have no clue where they're supposed to line up or who they're supposed to cover. The D-line is the same, and Carter, Slaton, Dunlap, and Moon are in year 3 also.

A telling sign is when the players who have been here the longest look the worst, and when players get worse every year.

It is more than scheme, the scheme is the reason these kids don't know what the hell they are doing. And completely leaves open portions of the field. The coaching and the recruiting has just made the issues that have been here since he arrived, worse. It is one gigantic clucsterfck, but it's a clusterfck we all saw coming which is the most insulting part of it all.

Well Mullen said the scheme is sound, so I'm predicting that Grantham isn't going anywhere until after next year at the earliest since the defense will still be crap then. English may be gone after this year just because of how bad the safety play and recruiting has been under his watch. But if English isn't let go, then that's the final sign that Mullen will never make it here.

I agree with others that Mullen is practically guaranteed a fifth year due to the excuses of this year and his relationship with Strickland. Not saying that's how it should be, but that's what I think will happen. Can't see Mullen making it to year 6 without major changes now. I think Mullen will be forced to make major changes after year 4, but by then it will be too late.
