If 1965 was the last time the Gators wore blue helmets, then that was a year we lost to Mizzou in the Sugar Bowl 20-18. We finished the season 7-4.

Florida Gators reveal blue helmets
The last time Florida wore the Blue/Blue/White combination? 55 years ago vs Miami. The combination has only been worn 3 times in history; 1964 vs FSU (L), 1964 vs LSU (W), and 1965 vs Miami (L). The Gators will look to go 2–2 in the combination with a victory over Mizzou.
Florida turned to a helmet many fans are VERY familiar with when preparing the blue helmets; the 2017 Swamp Green helmets. That’s right, the 2017 Swamp Green helmets were reconditioned into the blue helmets the Gators will wear on Saturday.

My biggest complaint about these uniform switches is that we do it for the wrong games. Mizzou is at least a little better choice, as we should win. But even last year's Auburn game was way too much of a gamble. Why risk spoiling a uniform combo forever by it always being associated with a loss? I like the look fine, though I do prefer last year's throwback. But if we lose Saturday, I'll want them burned.

First time in my life that I think we’ve worn Blue helmets. Really is a throwback. Looks good though.

So we have a losing record in blue helmets and are repurposing the helmets from the Swamp Green debacle vs A&M.
If we lose...those helmets truly do need to be burned.

We wore them for the Georgia Southern game in 2013. I remember going away from that game thinking how good our guys looked with blue helmets and that we should change to them permanently.
