I am at a loss now.

Where will I go now if I want to be lectured on how to be a subservient gator fan that never questions anything that UF does?

Where will I go to be called a gidiot because I think that a beatnik is not a good fit for the UF football program?

Where will I go to read about UF sports that only focuses on the messaging that UF endorsed?

Where will I go to have bullish!t woke politics shoved down my throat in the middle of a sports column?

Maybe they can find a young, delusional but arrogant columnist that UF has indoctrinated to continue with his worthless legacy.

Then again maybe I will just continue to ignore the Sun like I have for the last few years

:exactly:

We have a winner, ladies and gents! Kudos!

The end of an error. I will truly miss hearing what is on his iPod shuffle.
Songs he will recommend listening to on his Ipod Shuffle in retirement

I thought you were the board historian. Where's @Durty South Swamp? He tells a good story. Somebody tell me a damn story!! Then I can eat my apple slices, drink my juice box and lay down on my mat for my afternoon nap.

We can’t bust heads like we used to—but we have our ways. One trick is to tell them stories that don’t go anywhere like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so I decided to go to Morganville which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So, I tied an onion to my belt which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel. And in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say. Now, where were we? Oh, yeah! The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.

Ahhhh, thanks @stephenPE, oops I mean Grandpa Simpson. :zzzzz:

The short version is the website was being flakey. 78 created a thread where he posted the website of the bios of the top brass of the parent company. At that time, I happened to be reading the website of David Thorne. He would post side splitting email exchanges that he had with people. Here is in an example (be careful, this website can consume a lot of your time)
Yeah thats not what I was looking for at all.

Anyway, I posted a completely fake email exchange with one of the top brass. I was basically rambling on how the hamsters powering the wheels needed food.

Someone at the Sun saw it, thought it was real, and freaked out.

What happened next? I honestly cant remember. I think they took the site down for a day, or deleted that thread, warned all of us about some disruptive posters or so something like that.

Well, that only adds fuel to the fire. I immediately post another email exchange with the top brass and accused them of doing inappropriate things with those hamsters. The site was permanently shutdown within a minute of that post.

Allegedly.

This is the kind of job that could get a young journalist exposure and a great stepping stone to something bigger - even Crucial moved up after being there. I would think there would be some ambitious guys willing to do it for peanuts. Literally peanuts.

Had no idea Tooley was still alive. But my first thought was Crucial will want his gig. but then I remembered that Crucial I thought got the Gator gig at the Lake City rag, so going to the G'ville Slime would be a huge step down

David Thorne is absolutely hilarious and you’re correct in that it can consume hours of your time.

I'm only a few minutes in, never heard of the guy before, and my sides already hurt from hysterical laughter. The one about the poster for the missing cat killed me. "No Reward!" :rotfl:

@bradgator2, were your email exchanges with "the brass" totally fabricated, or was it their actual replies to your phony messages?

Mine were 100% made up. All of it. But I wrote them exactly like they read on David's website. You would have thought he wrote them.

In my heart, I think David's are real. It is funnier that way

There are so many good ones. Here is another favorite:
"I have read your website and it is obviously that your a foggot."
