Trask has to be in the driver's seat for the Heisman, right?

Even if he doesn't win the Heisman, the story of Kyle Trask is not just one of the best stories of the year but really of all time in college football. Its like the movie about Rudy at Notre Dame, except in this case the main character is actually good at football.

And Trask isn’t clearly offsides on the only good play he’s ever made.

He won't get enough to win, but he will get enough to disrupt the vote similar to the voting in 2008.
That was a different situation in 2008. If you remember, Tebow had the most 1st place votes but many voters that wanted to prevent Tebow from winning a second Heisman maliciously left him out of their top 3 so he would receive zero points from their vote. Such bull crap. Unfortunately we cannot count on this process to be awarded on merit.

Heisman criteria;

The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The winners of the trophy epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.

Kyle Trask...

You are forgetting WHO votes for the award...integrity? :lmao2:

That was a semi-facetious post as I actually do understand who votes.. Just a reminder of the actual criteria for selection. I also understand the four-letter network has a lot of influence, as most of the aforementioned
voters get their info there, and they "woke"...

It's a shame that Trask's Heisman occurs in a shamble season.
He should return to Florida just to win a 2nd Heisman.

Mullen’s lack of killer instinct is coming for Trask too. Of course he plays to win, but we had the last game wrapped up and this one too, yet he took the ball out of his potential Heisman season QB’s hands. Winning the Heisman would do a great deal for Florida and Mullen’s long-term tenure. That he doesn’t see that and play to it is short-sighted. EJ gets enough reps and can come in when KT has cleared 350 and 4 TDs.

I’m going to have to disagree here. Yes, I want Mullen to have a little more killer instinct. But the reason Trask had not cleared 350 and 4TDs is because he was off his game at times early on. We are not just in the running for a potential Heisman. We’re also still in the running for championships. Leaving him in possibly at the expense of the rest of the year is what would’ve been short sighted a mistake.

And even with regard to killer instinct, while it’s not perfect, Mullen was calling pass plays from inside the 3. They failed because of the OL not protecting Trask, but he wasn’t content running the ball three times and taking the easy 3. I thought we were looking for a knockout blow several times when a modest run would’ve been a better option.

Maybe technically in the running for championships, but we all know this team ain’t winning one. Better to at least get some hardware in our dusty trophy case.

I’m referring to more than just today and neither UK nor Vandy were holding us back from a championship. Trask is potentially having a historic season and I’d like to see us milk that against some of the lesser teams.

Agreed, sofla is wrong again. Getting the school another Heisman should be priority right now. I'm finding it more and more impossible to believe our Gators have a prayer against Bama.

Trask had a chance to break a number of single season records in less games. That chance is lost and now the Bama QB is torching their rival in a nationally televised game. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite us.

When the OL isn’t playing up to par, and your Heisman candidate QB is getting hit or flushed on nearly every play, why continue to expose him. Forget championships. If he can’t play next week or beyond because of a hit he takes while up 20 points late in an obvious win, how does that benefit him? Mullen would be crucified if he got Trask hurt just to put up more stats in garbage time, and rightly so. That’s my point.

Also, when was I wrong the first time?
