@lagator and @Marine1 and all the other White apologists act like we just played Virginia or Oklahoma or Kansas. It was freaking Army. ARMY! Like Biden/Trump, you are on one side or the other and holding on till the bitter end.

Good chance this will be Whites last year. He can easily be replaced as there is plenty of talent out there.

But yeah....I really like Gator sports and that includes basketball. Really looking forward to this season. Also can’t wait for baseball.

I used to really look forward to Gator Basketball. White has killed that for me for the foreseeable future.

Sully sucks as well, FTR.

Oh yeah. And for all you guys blaming nembhard for dribbling the air out of the ball. He's balling out at Gonzaga. They're spanking everybody's ass. They've already beat Kansas and just beat #11 west Virginia. I can't remember ever actually dreading basketball season, ever.

We were supposed to play Virginia but instead they were busy losing to San Francisco, also known as Rice-a-Roni because the whole team is made up of nerdy Asian physics majors. Well maybe not but they are San Francisco for Christ's sake. You know who else lost? Kentucky twice, Duke, Kansas, Villanova, UNC. You know who doesn't have a loss? "The mighty Gators", also known as "The Mighty Mikes", or if you're feeling off-colored, "The That's Mighty Mike White of you."

Well basically it was nearly everyone on this board that criticized Nembhard continuously. It will be interesting if he can make the league as he continues to develop.

Ever heard of Bill Russell or Bill Cartwright? WCC? You know the Conference that also has Gonzaga, BYU & St. Mary's? Yeah, a bunch of Schleps.

Castleton played 27 minutes, led in rebounds 8, shot 75%FG, scored 8 points. Will he get better? How is he favored over Payne?
Appleby scored 15 in one half (2nd). Always good to have a strength in the 2nd half. Johnson will get better (15) as we go.
Locke seemed useless? Much to improve on. Go Gators! Tomorrow.

Call me spoiled and I’ve really tried to like Coach White’s brand of basketball, but I’m about as excited as I was when Don DeVoe took over after Sloan got canned. For the life of me I haven’t been able to figure out exactly what his offensive philosophy is. It most often looks like an early ‘80’s AAU game with better uniforms. I would be glad to be proven wrong.

I want to make the excuse that it was their first game back, but yesterday was a pretty typical Mike White basketball game. Appleby and the giant white kid from Michigan were promising, though!

So, like Ferrolitos Quincy Rec team with Moten when he wasn’t obligated to Team Florida?

The old Rackley’s / Quincy Raiders would wipe the floor with our Gators! Good reference, Goon. That was some entertaining basketball back in the day. How did you come upon them? And btw Joe is struggling some these days. Injured his arm a while back and still hasn’t regained use.

I turned it off when I saw the offense is the exact same. Against legit competition, it will be a problem like always. Even the announcers said there was too much standing around. They attributed it to not being able to practice. Nope, that's Whitey's offense.

Son1 played for his AAU team ‘81-‘83. I drove a couple of players down to the state championships in Orlando one summer. Rackley was the one-armed guy from Altha wasn’t he? He drove Moten all over the state for Norm Sloan.
Haven’t seen Joe since the Silver Slipper closed, I guess. Good guy.

Seems like the only thing we practice on offense are pump fakes. The offense is just so hard to watch. A lot of 1-on-1 ball.

Our second half was much better. I would say 75% of that was just because Appleby stayed out of foul trouble in the second half and could play the whole time. The dude seems legit. I see why Nembhard left. I felt like Mann started to improve some and gain confidence at the end of last season and he did look more comfortable out there on both ends of the floor yesterday. Hoping to see him continue to improve. I like having a big presence in there like Castleton. He got some rebounds in the first half that let us keep it close (sad to say that against Army).

I know it's only one game, and I know it's the first game, but man I just can't be optimistic about this basketball program right now. Once again, we are seeing a team that has 3-4 guys that will most likely be playing in the NBA one day and we don't look like even a bubble team unless Appleby is out there (much like the last couple of years with Nembhard).
