True story..but I like the garlic factor of the Montreal

I have the Sams sized container of it. My wife would always have a hard time picking out steaks so it was a must have. She’s gotten better about it so I’ll throw it on burgers every once in a while to change it up.

I’ll probably still be working on that container for a few more years.

The teenagers and their friends request the burgers for birthdays. We love the garlic on the steak which a purist frowns upon.

Kung Pao Beef Bowl. Bell pepper, scallion, garlic, and ginger sautéed in a dash of vegetable oil. Add ground beef, salt and pepper to taste, and cook the beef until done. Cover with sweet soy glaze, stirring to get everything coated. Serve over rice, garnish with the scallion greens and chopped peanuts.

Outside of General Tso’s Chicken, I’m pretty much a rookie with the Asian dishes, but I’ve enjoyed preparing and eating what we’ve tried lately. A one dish meal from time to time isn’t too bad and using all fresh ingredients makes all the difference in the world.

I'm curious about the Dale's. What else do you use it for?

Besides the burgers I also marinade flat iron steak in that combination above and then pan fry it in a cast iron skillet. Then it can be used as fajita strips, steak salad, or pasta/broccoli with parmesan. All of those are a quick meal and a family favorite. Flat iron steak absorbs flavors well but be sure to cut it correctly or else it's tough. I've tried Montreal seasoning but there's something in there that I don't care for but not sure what it is.

I’m not a Montreal hater at all. I just recognize that a fine piece of beef sometimes deserves an upgrade and can be as simple as S&P
That Grass-fed cut came from Sprouts. I've been quite impressed with their beef and burger offerings.

A good marinade for that is tamari, walkers wood jerk, grated garlic and ginger and a bit of lime zest

A great prep for beef, cut with orange or pineapple juice for pork, a little too strong for yardbird.

Yes. I gave it to my Mom and while she loved it, it’s just her. I thought it be great to make and then have a left over. She’s big on leftovers but somethings didn’t keep well, i.e. salads or such. Great for 2 people.

Going to order a food service for my dad. You mentioned Blue Apron. @cover2 what was the service you used? Guessing I buy a gift card and my dad schedules the meals? Anything else I need to know?

If I remember correctly, they have it set up where you have to order in groups such as 3 meals or 6 meals or 9 meals. You can't just randomly order 1 meal this month and 1 meal next month. So once you get it, that's basically your meals the next 3 days because everything is fresh. You can't put 2 in the freezer and have 1 meal this week and 1 meal next week.

So, they come out with certain meals they are doing each month. If you don't find 3 in there you like, then why order? Wait till next month. But then what if you don't find 3 meals then? Wait again? Choose 3 and choke one down? These were the only drawbacks I found but I'm a picky eater. Seemed like every meal had something to do with tomatoes. :puke:

We use Every Plate. Similar set up as @NVGator described. We order three meals a week and have been doing two servings since it’s just been me and the missus. Children will be home for a month or so and we up the number of servings to four. Each meal has a protein, at least one vegetable, and a starch. The portions are filling, but we usually don’t have leftovers.

The kits come with everything you need for the meals except salt and pepper, sugar, oil, etc. The produce has been especially fresh and the meats are of good quality as well. If there’s a drawback it’s that there is the prep that takes about 30 minutes, but we have enjoyed working together in the kitchen. Each meal has a detailed recipe and directions that you can keep and catalog.

We have been impressed with the variety of choices. I’ve really enjoyed the two Asian dishes we’ve tried, Vietnamese chicken and rice and Kung Pao beef, since I’ve never branched out much in that direction. The Southwest offerings have been good and there are several pasta and protein dishes to choose from. The tastes and flavors have been restaurant quality. We’re glad we tried them. It has gotten us out of a rut of sorts.
