IF the refs call a fair game (i.e. holding our receivers, etc.) then we have a real chance IMHO. But I'm not counting on it...:jog:

Every time I see this attitude on this board, I want to throw up.

The only time we looked like a top 5 team all year was against uga. Since then we've only played teams who will finish with a losing record, and we have yet to cover the spread in the last month. Yes, we have a chance against Bama, but no, we have not looked like an equal contender this year.

We hung 63 on Arky the week after UGA and gave up some late garbage TD's to win by 28 in our only night game I recall. I'd say that was a quality top 5 showing.

Missouri will finish with a winning record, and the only other teams in the SEC that will do the same are Alabama, Texas A&M, and most likely Auburn. Ole Miss has a chance to improve on their 4-4 record if they’re able to get back on the field after their Covid outbreak. So there just aren’t many teams with a winning record in the league, meaning Alabama has had the same soft schedule we have.

My thoughts exactly on this game. I’d rather get in a shootout with Bama chucking it as well. What’s the worst that happens a bomb to smith or one of their other wideouts? At least we get the ball back quickly...better than them demoralizing us by pounding down our throats and keeping our offense off the field
If Saban goes back to ground and pound its gonna be a loooong game for the good guys.

We gotta stack the line like we did against UGay, and sell out to stop the run. And pray the secondary can make a few stops/maybe get lucky with a pick. We gotta get pressure on MJ.

I haven't gone back to look to see of this sentiment has been shared in this thread, but we cannot afford to look past Corndog Saturday. Yes, they are having an awful season and yes, Ogre is an indecipherable goon, but they have become a rival and they've recruited really well for a long time. That roster should be pretty well stocked with talent - though you would not know it by watching them this year.

We just are not good enough on defense and with our awful run game to overlook anyone.

Florida should be the home team in the game. Looking at the 2018 pictures, jawja wore dark uniforms and bammer wore white.

LSU wore white last year but they always wear white.

I was referring to the teams we've played since uga. All the teams you mentioned were before. My point was that we didn't perform like a top 5 team against poor teams.

We've definitely played up and down to our competition. Not a good quality, and it makes this week almost as concerning as next. Almost.

Offense was fantastic that game. Defense allowed Franks to have his best offensive performance ever in the Swamp, and until this past Saturday, that was the most Arkansas had scored in a game all year. Good win but still didn't cover the spread either. That said, if they score 35 on Bama, then I'll admit I was wrong about Arkansas.

I get the feeling that the players and coaches can't help but look ahead to Bama at least a little bit this week, which may result in another game where we at least failed to cover the spread. But it's not the spread that concerns me. It's watching the same mistakes over and over again with players who look uninspired because they know they're going to Atlanta.

Bama seems to play to their potential. We haven't done that as a team all year.

I’m not excusing the play entirely the past few weeks. But I do think that Ark may have been the last team that truly still cared at that point and were actually trying to win. I feel like Vu, Uk and the vols(not surprisingly all coached by DCs)were almost content to play ball control keep away to keep from being blown out and let the chips fall where they may. Especially with the vols. Guarantano was a turnover machine that Alabama and uga had the fortune of playing. If they’d rolled him out, I think we give up 20+, but score more due to his erratic play. He handed uga the game singlehanded in that second half. Bailey was handcuffed from the start and they had the punter warming up on 1st down, totally content to lose.

To your last point though, we did allow it to happen. We’re just as talented in a few areas as Alabama, but aren’t nearly as complete. They don’t care what an opponent is wanting to do. They simply operate their way. We’re not there yet.
