Losing CBS means one less outlet, one less opportunity for a marquee game at 3:30 or in prime time, so less flexibility. Florida-Georgia could be bumped to other times and channels by Clempson-Notre Dame or whatever. Texas-OU has been pushed to noon many times. Hopefully SEC ratings are such that the other leagues will assume the AAA or JV status they merit.

But it also entirely removes any motivation for ever paying CBS for their digital platform.

More Herbie, less Gary. Shifting aggravations...

Good point. We're probably the ones paying for these gigantic contracts.
Someone complained earlier about the CBS commercialfest.. Think it will be any less with Disney??? Not only that your going to have to put up with the wokeness...

I doubt it. With 14 teams they have to get them all on tv. The SEC network will always have a nooner, and we'll likely see an SEC game on one of the regular ESPN channels. This isn't happening until the 2024 season.

The payout for teams is going up to $66 million (up from $44mil). There's also going to be an SEC Thanksgiving Day game (I'd speculate LSU, since they used to do it or on the Friday after).

Or the Egg Bowl which is usually on that Friday as well.

So an extra $20M a year can easily support a $300M capital project amortized over 15 years. I bet the Cross Country and Golf teams are stoked.

In your scenario the note would run around $27,000,000 per year. The SEC payout per team is estimated at $66,000,000 year.

Get ready to pay for BSPN plus....

That’s not exactly what I’m dreading most.

I can't think of a time that this wasn't a noon kickoff. I believe that is part of the tradition of the game.

The real question is does Florida-Georgia stay at the currently mandated 3:30 time. Or have we moved on from those deaths and are willing to possibly go back to later game times?

I won't be shocked if bspn, which at that point will almost be a monopoly, trumpets tradition only when it makes them the most money. When it doesn't, I won't put it past them to move the WLOCP to Thu @ 7pm.

Good points. Thanks.

I just see us getting bounced around more because a premium slot is eliminated. If CBS cuts a deal with the Big 10 or something that would offset it a bit.

So yes, UGA getting pushed to 7:00 or noon is quite possible. It’s been odd this year. Fewer games are being played, we’ve been a top 10-top 6 team all season with a high flying offense, led by a Heisman candidate QB with a GREAT story, and yet so many noon games. Half our games will have been at noon.

With that said, my understanding of the deal is the Premium Slot stays, but is moved to ABC. With that said, that slot may move from 3:30 to 7:30/8:00 pm on ABC. I don't see the SEC making this deal for the Premium Game of the Week for it to be hidden away. You don't give up exclusivity and a National TV Slot to be able to be bumped to a regional telecast. I think the FOX deal with the Big 10/Big 12/Pac 12 in the last few years along with the Big 10 Network and ACC Network will work in our favor in this regard as well.

The reason CBS has the 330 time slot is they don't have a noon game. So, I can imagine if this moves to ESPN (or ABC) they could still do a 330, or move it to 4. They rarely do FL/GA as a night game because of the "WLOCP" issue - too many drunks having all day to drink AND all night.

And yes, the Red River Classic (UT/OU) is ALWAYS at noon (which is 11am in Dallas).
