Career is probably over. Probably congenital heart condition. Sad

If it’s a heart condition, he’s lucky to be alive. His career would also be over.

That's usually the outcome for these athletes that collapse like that in the middle of a competition. Unless he has been dealing with some unknown illness but I doubt he would have been playing, much less now in the hospital in critical condition. Damn it really sucks.

The fact that Mike White continued to play makes me despise him even more!
He talked it over with the team. I don't think this is a legit reason to hate him. He's already given us a dozen other reasons. Shouldn't that be enough?

Not necessarily. If it's an aberrant pathway they didn't know about, he's lucky to have survived it, but it could be repaired and then he might be able to have his career. There's no way to know his prognosis until we know what happened. Could have been cerebrovascular issue which could also be very serious.

All I know for sure is they need to get him out of that clown hospital and back to Shands before I'll feel comfortable.

Just read this.... horrible!

There can be so many issues here, but most likely an arrhythmia caused by genetic condition, or structural pathology like HOCM or ARVD. The fact that he is "critical" is concerning, which means that his arrest lasted for longer than a few seconds.

Did not see the incident, and article does not say, did they perform CPR on the court?

Prayers to the kid and his family. This is one of my nightmares as a physician.

We had a FB player back in 96 go down running stadiums. LV hypertrophy and Cardimegaly.....revived him and he was fine after but football was over. CPR was performed.

No CPR. He was breathing but appeared to be unconscious when they rolled him off on the stretcher.

Just saying, if we were losing 11-3 instead of winning I doubt the game goes on.
