One of my good friend's father got covid a few weeks ago. It put him in the hospital and for a while they thought he was a goner. But slowly he got better and was released to go back home. Less than a week later he felt very ill and returned to the hospital. Blood clots. He passed away a few days ago. Yes, he was old, 84 I think. The docs seemed pretty convinced that the clots were caused by complications from the virus. Maybe not, I dunno but that is what they said.

One of the two things that clinicians look for in determining if a patient is really a COVID patient is disseminated intravascular coagulation, a condition of small clots in vessels throughout the body, and is believed to be the cause of organ shutdown. The other symptom is ground glass opacity of the pulmonary system.

I only say this in response to your post. There is no indication that this is a factor in Keyontae’s collapse.

The link between Covid and clotting and damage to the heart muscle is already firmly established. It’s not even debatable.

What is debatable is what struck down this young man. He was unconscious before his face hit the floor. Something has gone horribly wrong with his body. Let the facts emerge.

Is KJ conscious? Does he know Coach White is there? Is his family there by now? Please get them all out of Tallahassee and into Shands.
This was my first thought. OH shyt what hospital they taking him to. He’d be better off in a tent in the Congo. I was hoping they get him to Shands as quickly as possible

I realize Covid news gets full hoax treatment from some here, but it has been shown to caused large blood clotting issues in some who get it. Granted it is more often with far older people than Keyontae and it would not make much sense to be this many months after he had the Rona, but it absolutely does cause secondary heart problems.

Good Lord people will believe anything.

Ox is really allowing his politics to cause him to seem like a dumba$$ on this one.

It's politics that have made COVID more than it really is - the effing flu.

Let's leave the COVID/political nonsense here and get it back on topic.

No fing ****. May have been. May not have been. Can't rule it out. What we also can't rule out is that he's in critical condition. Stop with the idiotic opinions. I watched Gathers die on video right after it happened. All I want is for him to get through this ALIVE.

not only are the clots a complication of the virus, they're a primary thing that kills people.

it's also a primary thing that kills kids with valve problems or holes in the heart.

and cocaine users.

interesting.

your guess or did you hear that somewhere?

Educated family member postulation of just one of a multitude of possible reasons for his collapse.

Of course, without diagnostic info is impossible to know.

Maybe there is no positive information? But negative info sure does leach out?

All I have to say is I have had the flu many times and I have had COVID. There is absolutely no comparison between the two in my experience. COVID was unlike anything I have ever experienced. Not even close.
