I think it's time to evaluate whether Dan Mullen is the guy or not

The UAA committed to extending Mullen’s contract in March. For reasons I’m not clear of, the finalization was put off until later.

What happens from here forward depends on your definition of “normal” circumstances. Normally when you put up 609 yards of offense, you win the game. Normally when a player loses his cool on national television in the deciding moment of an important game, it’s cause for pause by the coaching staff. Normally when you come up a little short year after year because of recruiting or coaching or both, you’re in a tenuous position.

We aren’t normal and that’s concerning.

He's proud of this?

Marco Willson is still on the team?

Listen to Mullen after an awful loss...Then listen to Saban after a massive spanking

The only chance of him leaving anytime soon comes down to two things:

1) He forces his way out, ala Butters
2) The Bull Gators put enormous pressure on management, which I don't forsee

Remember, Butters would still be roaming our sideline if he hadn't invented death threats to get out of his contract. Also, you'll recall Mullen's wife before he took the job on an interview talking about the pressure in Gainesville and how she hated the fans, etc. Mullen may decide he wants out - I'll bet he's got that woman in his ear about it all the time.

Jags could hire him

Didn’t care about winning this one. Lost to a bunch of freshman and walk-on’s because he mailed it in. Team followed his lead. Perfect recipe for losing to South Alabama. I was always on the fence about Danny Boy. He completely lost me tonight. Looking forward to the day he’s gone.
There's a certain way a great coach and staff do things and it separates good/average or bad from great. It's not always about risk taking or guessing and that's what Mullen and TG do in the oddest of situations.
First off it effects the psyche of the team and players when you continuously take risk in a situation where you are guaranteed points......stop the ******** of always going for it on 4th down in the redzone.....put the f ckin points on the board, regroup and look at why you didn't score a TD on the sideline and get some momentum.....ESPECIALLY AT F VCKIN HOME....MORONIC MOVE Dan.....again. This isn't the B12 where your offense is going against air every week and it leaves no margin for error if you have an off night on offense or in the case of last night multiple turnovers...it's not cool anymore.

Second of all get a f vckin DC who's more interested in playing SOUND assignment football and build your players around that concept. This idiot TG is not doing that....he is f vcking trying to guess what the offense is going to do....It's like a basketball player who always goes for the steal....sure he gets one every so often but gives up a score 3/4 quarters of the time and is out of position for the rebound....Did Charlie, Stoops or even Muscramps do this guessing game BS? No....hell Side Hat Collins was 10X better than this dipsh!t....

Comparing Mullen to Saban is like comparing a Yugo to a Mercedes.

Mullen is TOO comfortable for one thing. He does boneheaded stuff and makes excuses when asked simple questions and puts that dumb look on his face. His team has HUGE glaring problems, the kind you can't fix midseason.....so I'm watching to see what he does if the off season, starting with letting Toad go and finding a real DC. Then getting serious about recruiting the LOS. If there is one thing that Muschamp said that I agree with it's that the SEC is a LOS conference. We are going to get a massive lesson on that in Atlanta.

I have no problem with Mullen being coach IF he gets rid of Grantham. Mullen has proven he can run an offense and develop QB's. Can he run an entire program? Picking the right assistant coaches will determine that. If he can't straighten the defense out then he needs to go away.

I understand the frustration and agree Mullen is stubbornly refusing to make changes that everyone knows has to be made. He has got to show some flexibility if he wants our team to get to the next level, i.e., Grantham and some poor recruiting coaches.

However, after 10 years of wandering the desert, Mullin has made us competitive again and I actually look forward to our games instead of dreading them. Moreover, unless Meyer is planning on coming back, I don’t see who we would go get to replace Mullen. Look how long many programs are set back indefinitely with the wrong hire. We just can’t afford that risk anymore. Mullen can coach an elite offense... if we make the needed coaching changes on defense and recruiting I can see this program doing great things. We have a better chance going forward on this path than we do firing Mullen and rolling the dice on a Hal Mummy type coach.

I know message boards are the repository for all things hyperbolic and many times it gives me verification of my own frustrations but I’m grateful for where we’ve come. Now I’m going to go hide behind my desk before people throw shoes at me.

The fact that Mullen said the defense has played pretty good this year is just......

I just have no words

My only hope is this is what he’s saying in public, and chewing some serious tale behind closed doors, but I think that’s a pipe dream.

Dan’s not cut throat enough and too loyal to the under performers, coaches and players.

Finalization was put off due to optics of giving a raise during the pandemic

Butters wrote his ticket Jan 1st on national tv saying the administration didn't back him and the football program less than 10 minutes after winning the outback bowl. The death threats shorted his stay by games not years

i don’t want to hear another damn poster argue Dan’s offense isn’t anything but sideways. Did you see that stat presented tonight? We ranked 117th in passes 20+ yards attempted. With a Heisman QB.

That stat was fuched up, it meant to say LSU's defense is ranked 117 at giving up passes of 20+ yards. Surely you don't believe we've thrown less 20+ passes than several option teams .

I said this in the C2 thread, but I think Grantham is gone. The 'noise' is getting too loud for Mullen to ignore. I think we'll see Grantham & English let go. But there's more problems than just the DC and Safeties coach. There's a leadership issue. Somebody needs to have a 'come to Jesus' talk w/ the $6 million/year head coach. Maybe Meyer? Whatever happens, he needs to reestablish that he's "in charge" and 'this is how we're going to do things'. He's obviously lost the players - they think they run things. Also, the "woke" bullsh*t needs to be put to rest after this season. We get it, you're woke. Now move the f*ck on!
