Could have had a heart attack and not had access to oxygen for a while. Who knows. This is scary.
I doubt with medical personnel on-site I find it unlikely that's the case. I had a former player fall out at home and spend a month in a coma and some sort of viral infection was the cause. I really hope it's something like this instead of his heart or brain. I know I pulled over and prayed when I heard he was critical and continue to do so.

Would you be placed in a coma over a heart condition or does that narrow it down to a brain problem?
It tells you the main issue now is brain injury because the coma is to reduce demand for oxygen and nutrients of the brain cells to arrest further damage or potentially reverse permanent damage to partially damaged cells. It's possible that the damage was from lack of Oxygen from a cardiac event, but I think it's more likely to have been a stroke like event.

Before I saw the stuff about the medically induced coma I was referring to brain damage because if your heart stops for any amount of time or if you stop breathing, your brain tissue/cells will start dying due to the lack of oxygen. In short, it could be a heart problem, that has caused a much bigger problem with his brain. that's not to say that it couldn't have been an aneurysm and a problem in the brain in the first place. Lost a friend to one five years ago right after she gave birth. Her body is still on this earth but her mind is not.

A likely reason for the induced coma is swelling of the brain. The kid fell straight on his face after passing out. He could have suffered a subdural hematoma from the blunt force.

It’s common medical practice to induce a coma to allow time for the swelling of the brain to subside.

I’m only speculating. I know no more than you do.

Father God, please be with your child. Be with his family. Comfort them in this time of need. Lord bring down your glorious healing on him. You are the ultimate healer. Please lay your hands on this young man and return him to health.
Father God, we know not you reasons for the things you do. But please dear God, let this young man live. Let him live a full life that is blessed by you and seen by others to be a blessing to your name. Lord you feel the love of the hearts of the gator nation. Let our love for sport, transpond to the love for his life and make hime well again
Its in Jesus name I pray
Amen

I don't like how this looks. Good Lord please be with this Kid and the Doctors.

Lots of factors in here. CVA before passing out, or brain injury afterward. Either way... this is not good.

Bringing a patient out of an induced coma is promising. They plan to take medical steps to improve his condition.

Thanx for posting the new info. I had wondered if KJ had been placed into a medically induced coma when I kept hearing "critical but stable", but being that medicine/science is not my thing, I refused to speculate. I will leave this one strictly to the medical professionals and continue to pray for KJ's health. Please keep posting any official info that comes out.

This is all just so upsetting. It’s been hard to concentrate on much lately between this and some health issues (Covid) going on in my own family. Hoping for a positive ending to all this.

Want a smooth recovery - including full recovery of faculties, functions.
Want a solid understanding of how & why, so KJ won't have to go through his life fearing it might strike again.

So, KT is responding to simple commands, officials say.
