I think it's time to evaluate whether Dan Mullen is the guy or not

I know the clock was at :27 when the previous play ended because I was yelling at the t.v. to call a fuching timeout. I believe it was about 24 seconds when they actually called it and stopped the clock. Of course LSU was happy we called the time out.

The 4th down call on the 1st drive was way worse in my opinion.

Exactly, the time out was questionable but understandable, there were many calls similar throughout the game, that showed a completely lack of game management. There is a reason this was our worse red zone effiency (spelling) game of the season. The play calling was worse than Urg's entrance into a tall man contest.

Yeah, that was a bad call too. The bottom line is Mullen is the Head Coach, had his hands all over the outcome of this game through his decisions, but failed to take any responsibility for the loss. He let Kyle go out there and take responsibility instead. I'm over Mullen. I hated the hire when it happened warmed up to it a bit when it looked like we were making progress but now feel like we are back to square one with this guy. He's simply not championship material and just wasted the best QB we've had in a decade.

Clearly Dan is not giving us a dynasty here and lacks certain skills to run a program. Maybe he slips into playoff once, but who is out there? I am still amazed there are not more great coaches. I mean in past ten years its Dabo and Saban first tier and what, Lincoln Riley? Urban, when he is coaching. But he brings other issues. Other than that, who?

So many “great” assistants moved up over years or coaches with past experience (See Richt, Muschamp (x2) Novell, Herman, Kelly, Frost, Harbaugh to name a few ) and they cant get it done. Running a college program takes so much skill involving leadership, organization, mentoring, being a boss of a huge staff, recruiter, babysitter, father figure, PR and marketing, fundraising etc.

In the 90s there was always like five to seven coaches that seemed to have thier teams in the mix: Spurrier, Bowden, Osborne, Paterno, Holtz, Fulmer. In 2000s it started to wittle down, it was who, Urban, Tressel, Carroll? Now its just Dabo and Saban.

so while I cant see Dan here for long, not sure i see the next big thing out there.
Our next hire has to be the RIGHT hire. Until you know who you want, you live with the stability Mullen has brought to a dumpster fire. If it’s a month, a year or more.

A coach who refuses to correct and discipline bad behavior that costs a victory should be dismissed. Let Bryan be interim for a year if necessary. Forget recruiting.

I wouldn't have exactly been a sunshine pumper before last Saturday, but how Mullen handled things since the UGA win has definitely flipped the script for this fan. Number one, its obvious that Kirby's apparent stupidity may have cost them that game. Even a mediocre QB hits some of the wide open receivers they had running down the field and who knows how the game goes.

Now it's gone from good faith and great interest to the progress of the Mullen era to the obvious reality check that Mullen just doesn't seem the have that Meyer, Spurrier fire in his belly. Or maybe he's just supremely arrogant without their win at all costs mentality. I guess if Dabo can go from his previous low (blowout loss to WV in Orange Bowl, owned by Spurrier) to where he is at now than anything is possible, but we're not going to cheat to get players like Clemson did. Last Saturday I'm going to bet a lot of fans who tried to stay positive got a sharp reality check.

Ahh, the old everyone cheats but us. Using that when Nads Dullem is your head coach is quite a stretch.

This is the real problem, I believe the current administration is a rudderless ship when it comes to football.

Every now and then some of you need to review the team performance trend over the last decade and give yourselves a reality check.

We’re not where we want to be, back at the top of the mountain, but we’re light years ahead of where we’ve been since esophageal spasms was a household phrase.

That bar is extremely low, pretty easy to clear the hideousness of Chimp/Butters. If winning 8-10 games a year and no championships at UF is the new standard, so be it. Stricklin just needs to be honest and come out and tell the truth: he doesn't give a **** about winning football titles at UF. I want those exact words to come out of his mouth.

I love the "everyone cheats but us" excuse. It's almost as fun as "trust the coaches".

Until last year (2020 class), Clemson hadn't had a top 5 class under Dabo. So Clemson was doing all that cheatin' to land at #16 (2017), #7 (2018), #10 (2019), #11 (2016), #9 (2015) in the recruiting rankings? Yep - the only reason Dabo turned it around at Clemson was he was willing to cheat, while Dan and UF are just clean as a whistle. smh

Agreed, it IS pretty low. My simple point, which I’m pretty sure you understood, is at least now we’re trending the correct direction.
