Trask has to be in the driver's seat for the Heisman, right?

If Trask doesn't win, there's someone who definitely has some answering to do for it: Mullen.

We wasted much of the Kentucky and Tennessee games with vanilla, conservative playcalling and wasted the opportunity to get to 40+ points in both those games.

Trask's numbers as of now are impressive enough already...imagine them with another 2-3 passing TDs and another 150-200 yards through the air. He'd have had the award locked up before Atlanta and while Jones out-dueled him on the scoreboard, Trask would have the better numbers overall and certainly more than held his own in the game itself (with Jones having the benefit of superior talent).

I criticized Mullen for failing to get Trask his 3-4TDs vs Kentucky and said that was a missed opportunity to cement Trask as the frontrunner. Now it looks like it cost him the chance at the award itself. Color me disappointed in Mullen and gutted for Trask, who's more than deserving of the award, but likely won't get it.

Mullen clearly wasn't focused on getting the award for him and his playcalling confirms it.

Mullen is damned no matter what he does. The usual suspects would be raising holy hell if he seemed intent on getting Trask the Heisman to the detriment of the team. Now, of course, it is Mullen's fault if Trask doesn't get the Heisman.

Criticism comes with the job and he'd be the first to acknowledge it.

Let's be real: we weren't going to run the ball on Bama with our OL and run game, so going into game management mode in the latter half of the season vs overmatched opponents "to focus on the run game" rings a little hollow at best, naively optimistic at worst.

Once Atlanta was secured, Mullen pretty clearly was going through the motions with playcalling and did the bare minimum to win those games. That attitude cost us vs LSU and likely cost Trask the Heisman too. Again: look at Trask's stat line now and imagine it with a few extra TDs and a few hundred more passing yards--no way he loses the vote.

Wouldn't shock me if Trask isn't even in the Top 3. Lot of freaking hate for the guy, even from our own. Tebow made it clear he wasn't voting for him.

In what way would more aggressive play calling and running up the score a bit be to the detriment of the team?

Trask absolutely deserves it. He has been getting the short end of the stick in football for a long long time now....but one good thing he has going for him right now - the Jags won't be drafting him!!!

I would be willing to bet that Wuerffel will be voting Trask. I've said before, he is by far the best QB in UF history, and Kyle plays the game and carries himself much more in that mold than in Tebow's. I appreciate that much more and will take both of them over TT all day.

No question Spurrier will be voting that way as well.
