He ws ALWAYS third and Grantham even when he had much better than Butters' Leftovers talent at Ugaly.

I still just don't get the scheme. what is your take on bringing pressure on every play yet playing man off or cover three or four every play? that seems like the worst possible combination. any more on can hit a quick slant as long as he reads the blitz and since we blitz on every play it's impossible to be fooled.

what am I missing?
We had an old DC who’s take on blitzing was like rubbing one out...it gets to feeling good so you do it more than you need to and then your mom walks in on you!

I think if you’re going to blitz, situationally the line to gain should be six yards or more with two high (if the formation allows) with at least one of the safeties and a LB to defend the slant, CB’s pressing hard to slow the release. I’m not a big zone guy with the type passing offenses you see these days. I’m also not wild about any zero coverages. I don’t think our DB’s are coached to be as physical as they need to be is a big part of the problem.

SSeeing I don't think I've seen our corners press the entire freaking year. now of course when they're dropping back into three or four they're not going to do that but even when we're playing a man one, they do not bump.

How about jamming a receiver on the line and disrupting the route. Has anyone told dwagchoke he is allowed to do this?

From what happened last night, I can tell you that your mother bumps. A lot.

I'm not sure how many times we actually play zero versus what the hell is going on with our safeties. often especially Stiner I can't tell what he's doing. many plays he just takes two/three steps forward and floats. I don't know if that's supposed to be the world's worst robber or what.

I don't believe I've seen the corners play man press all year. this has to be a coordinators order. for those bagging on the cornerback coach we always played press for him before and he always did at Virginia Tech. it surely isn't that he does not know how to teach press/ bump and run.

honestly I just don't get it. if you're trying to make a defense based on lining up one wide guy and letting him rush free every time, and other blitzes, like almost every play, why arent you jamming on the line and stopping slants and other hot routes?

What am I missing? Someone help me make sense of this tactic.

This whole defense makes no sense. I watched the GNFP review of our defense against Alabama and his review of our pass coverage could have been pretty much any game this season. He did give credit to the defensive line. They did hold their own.

Who are these guys anyway? I'm impressed with their reviews but I know nothing about them.

The slant in question was against cover 0, which is the only coverage where you absolutely do not give up the inside release.
I dare you to line up 12 yards deep and stop a slant. You can have an allpro, I will QB and Ox can play slot. I dare you to try to stop it.

And we did it ALL FUCHSIN YEAR.

F Grantham, it’s not like we lost 13-7. We scored 46 F’n points and lost. That’s on you Fatso.
And they could have scored 80 if they didnt take 1.5 quarters off.

It can be done, but it won't be stopped y the guy lined up 12 yards deep. it will be stopped by the LB who has hook/curl responsibility.
